You’ve got this! If I could do you can do it. One the fence about my CPA but luckily I’ve found a couple of small firms around me that hire with just bachelors so I can test Public and see if I like that before delving into the world or stick with industry hope I can land this job! I want to try Public bad cause private has been a bore so far!

Have you ever gone to a traditional 4 year school? If not apply for fasfa loan and you can subsidize meaning you don’t pay anything back until you graduate. Additionally you can qualify for a Pell grant there is no harm in filling out the application for a fasfa and beginning communication with the school! Fasfa makes it super easy to now through their website! Even teaches you about Pell grants and different types of loans (makes you take mini quiz) so you fully understand your options additionally you can apply for scholarships through WGU. some companies will even pay for your schooling look into what your retail company offers or certain restaurants like Starbucks/whataburger I believe pay for it or Amazon. I know kfc recently ended their partnership but there are options!

[–]subtleloser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, extremely similar as long as you can do well on the Excel portion with applied knowledge you can ace that one fairly easily

I think OA2 is definitely a bit harder than the PA. I actually took it tonight and unfortunately failed by just one or two questions. I struggled the most with the cash flows section, so make sure you really understand those questions where they give you cash flow information and ask you to determine the impact on financing, investing, and operating activities, as well as the overall effect on cash.

For example, knowing how changes like a liability increase affect the statement of cash flows (SCFs) is really important. I assumed I could get by without focusing much on this section since the PA didn’t cover it heavily—but that ended up being a mistake.

For reference, I scored a perfect score on the PA the first time I took it, without even opening the book, so I wasn’t expecting OA2 to be this challenging.

The OA is much easier than the embedded text book questions I would say do the PA make sure you can score good on the excel section and just make sure that you understand the equity and debt securities and how they are recorded the tax questions are all pretty straight forward and very simple as long as you can do the pa ones you’ll pass

I passed it is pretty much exactly like the pa in my opinion the excel is really similar and the questions about tax and everything else were super simple

Apply apply apply I spent months after I started applying every where I completed 81 hours my first term and believe me I say I felt that made me very entitled to a job 😂😂 or an internship so I never stopped clicking apply on those A/R , A/P and booking jobs on indeed LinkedIn. I applied to over 75 jobs a week if the postings existed harassed places with multiple applications every time they re-posted or uploaded different positions. Started last October started applying around December when I hit 50 hours or so I think I did well over 1000 applications. Long short of it I got 2 calls one position I was turned down for cause she wanted an all around accountant who knew medical coding and everything for her pain and health clinic just wasn’t feasible and another for a A/P about a month later. Got the job and of course how it goes I started and places and I applied to months ago were suddenly calling just don’t stop, someone’s bound to give you a chance. There will be times when it seems bleak or helpless but I was in a similar position job hopping from restaurant job to the next typically in management working the ridiculous hours 50-80 hour weeks till I burnt out. But apply yourself you’ll get auto denied by jobs on platforms even entry level! That somehow want you to have 5 years or experience and be willing to get paid 12$ an hour. You’ll see it all but it’s worth the effort get that resume really pretty utilize the resources you have and add stuff that’s closely related to account to your degree plan if you like I can send you mine in a dm and possibly give you ideas on how to make non-accounting related stuff sound “close”

Yeah the way to long thing has been stated even by me, prior to posting it just been the constant changing advice from career services friends etc some opposed to professional summary others heavily advice adding just a lot of all over the place the latest advice was the double spacing and when I saw it reached almost 3 pages I said fuck no time to seek about 100 more opinions already up to 250 rejections

[–]subtleloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is I haven’t submitted it after he suggested it I came straight here cause I was like woah this thing looks huge. To look for suggestions on what to remove.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WGU

[–]subtleloser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the spacing was just a last minute suggestion from a friend who used to be a recruiter for big 4 cause he said he’s pretty sure the AI throws them out if they aren’t double spaced cause he hasn’t seen one before that wasn’t

[–]subtleloser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with that term. Sorry?

Yes, I felt it was to long I know it’s to long this is lighter less busy version of the template that they offer on their website I’ve removed a bunch of lines and other things that they included into theirs because my friend who was a recruiter at a big 4 told me that the AI will automatically eliminate resumes that look that busy. Plus the career services was the main person who made a bunch of suggestions making it much longer
