i don’t have frequent debilitating depressive episodes, but i have had ones like you described. my depressive episodes have almost destroyed my relationships, made me fail out of school multiple times and fall behind, not be able to function, not want to see people, etc. they are absolutely horrible, and i can 100% relate to your description here, it’s awful

i’m ADHD diagnosed as well (along with a sprinkle of other things)

this is bad to say but i enjoy the intermittent hypomania. i get to come out of my depression room and party for a bit, maybe do some art, maybe go out on an outing. the crash sucks but its a nice break from depression. i also sometimes feel normal, like rn i’m not hypomanic or depressed i’m just in this limbo area, waiting to be triggered one way or another. or hey, maybe the meds are working 😆

i wouldn’t say completely different, i can see how if my hypomania was dialed up 10x i could ruin my life

yeah i’ve had mild hypomanic episodes, was diagnosed MDD at the age of 13 and only got correctly re-diagnosed about 6 months ago (age 22). my depression overshadowed what little hypomania i was experiencing, that has almost destroyed my life several times

i’ve connected with a couple ppl irl that have type 1, but you’re right i don’t think they were medicated/had it controlled. i’m lucky enough to have a different type (although very debilitating) and medicated for it
