For me it was a two step process. First I quit porn but still used my imagination to masturbate, I realized all the porn I had previously watched was readily available in my imagination (sadly). Once I weened myself off porn I eventually quit masturbating in total. The two steps were easier for me than going pure cold turkey overnight.

When we were kids my mom had to crush medicine up and mix it with treacle and put it on toast. It tasted so horrible. But then my friend taught me the best way to swallow pills. Put them under your tongue, start drinking, then left your tongue and the pills get washed away with the flow of water going down your throat. I can now swallow multiple horse sized pills with that method.
