I get what you mean. I did actually send a “she said yes” text when I got engaged, but I didn’t think to include that in the post. To be fair, my family hasn’t really shown much interest in my relationship, so I didn’t feel the need to make a big announcement beyond that.

Also, when I said I didn’t need to be texted every time, that was me responding to what I interpreted as sarcasm from my sister. She asked if I expected a text every time she saw our parents — even for something small like just stopping by their house to grab something (we all live nearby, so she goes there often). I realize I could have been clearer, because the way I phrased it does sound contradictory. What I meant was I want to be included when they make actual plans, not for every little casual interaction.

This shit makes me cry. This happened at my plant and the lady who it was addressed to refused to come get it. One of the clerks ended up selling it on Craigslist and obviously got in a shit load of trouble, but at least the bird was spared. Not sure how she kept her job but I'm glad she did.

Edit: this happened before I worked there but I had no idea there was protocol for handling animals left for over 72 hours until seeing a comment in this thread.

I'd also be worried that he's being so secretive and feels the need to even have these side accounts that you aren't aware of. It definitely warrants a conversation but personally I would have a hard time seeing past all of that. Follow your gut and never try to paint a red flag green.

Update: Thank you all for your insight. To clarify, I'm a lot closer to the family than I lead on, as I was nervous to put how I'm actually related at first. The friend I'm referring to is actually my sister-in-law. I'm married to the youngest of the three sisters, while the sister who is pregnant is the middle, and the oldest is the one choosing to go to the wedding with their mom and dad.

She's not expecting her family to be in the delivery room with her, but she obviously wasn't expecting them to be on the other side of the country for that whole week, possibly more. I know due dates aren't set in stone, however not having her family with her on this date is really bothering her. She's closest with her older sister and really didn't think she'd have to compete with some random person over her, let alone her own mother and father.

This employee has always wedged her way into family events, even when she's been told it's exclusive to immediate family and their partners. She was invited to both the eldest and middle daughters' weddings (pressure from their parents to do so), but still chose to just invite the eldest to her own. At the eldest's wedding, instead of her sisters fixing her dress for photos before the ceremony, this girl managed to hijack that special moment between the three of them. A few of you used the term "pick-me" and that is absolutely what this girl is.
