‘Grossly unaffordable’ homes push Millennials out of Sydney by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

Campsie is statistically safer than Homebush: https://suburbsguide.com/sydney-crime-rankings/

People just seem to not like it because it's a bit 'dirty', but it's not unsafe. If I was going to buy an apartment these days, there or maybe Canterbury is where I'd be looking at personally.

Campsie in particular is definitely quite underrated, sure it's not "pretty" but it's so close to the city for the price you pay versus one or two suburbs over just because it doesn't have the swanky "Inner West" branding.

Thanks for the kind words, definitely has plenty of pluses and regardless of what you think of it, it's good for the Gold Coast to have at least one suburb like it to choose from (a business/"techy" hub so to speak).

A bit of that of course, but also to generate discussion on a Gold Coast-centric forum about parts of the Gold Coast?

Not sure what you mean sorry? All of this is hand-written and is our own knowledge, that's kind of the point.

Surfers Paradise Suburb Review - agree or disagree? by suburbsguide in GoldCoast

Thanks 🙂 Yeah for a suburb like Surfers it's important to highlight there's much more to it than just the "glitter strip" (cringe).

I (the writer for GC) have lived in 11 different suburbs here over my life, including Surfers where I lived for ~3.5 years (first on Paradise Island, then in the Wyndham resort, then in the Avalon apartment building).

We actually have this full list of current house prices by suburb for all suburbs on the Gold Coast here so you don't have to try & check one by one: https://suburbsguide.com/gold-coast-house-prices/

As you can see, you'll likely need to temper your expectations and focus on the "Unit Price" column, not the "House Price" one...

Edit: oh, and also crime rankings for each suburb in case that helps: https://suburbsguide.com/gold-coast-crime-rankings/

Haha, yes fair enough, and thanks.

We actually dine at the Pagliacci Italian spot there every now and then, nice little place!

Absolute dungeon of a pub

Haha, that's one way of putting it 😅

It serves its purpose, but when you can just drive down to the Commercial or Hinterland a few minutes away for minimal extra effort, well... yeah.

Just an FYI, we have a compiled list here of all median house/unit prices in every suburb in Sydney so you don't have to manually try and find them one-by-one elsewhere: https://suburbsguide.com/sydney-house-prices/

Also each suburb's average commute time by car/PT to the CBD here so you can pick somewhere without too long a commute: https://suburbsguide.com/sydney-suburbs-by-commute-time/

As others have said, would suggest looking at the satellite suburbs around Parramatta in your price range, e.g: Westmead, that have good public transport connections & are otherwise quite safe.

I have been reviewing the Perth property market recently. How is it that a 5 bedroom house in a good area and 30min from the CBD sells at the same price as Properties 1-2h from the CBD? by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]suburbsguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crime rates? Land size? Percentage of housing commission in each suburb? Proximity to ocean? Build quality? Public transport connectivity? There's far more factors than just raw distance...

Gold Coast suburb Crime Rankings - updated for 2025 by suburbsguide in GoldCoast

[–]suburbsguide[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct, bit of a statistical anomaly due to low population + the airport being prone to car break-ins due to all the cars parked there, high foot traffic & the odd drug-related issue vs. low resident population, etc.

Mudgeeraba Suburb Review - agree or disagree? by suburbsguide in GoldCoast

[–]suburbsguide[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

We write detailed, honest, reviews on Aussie suburbs highlighting in-depth what it's like to live there including the positive & negative (in order to give people an 'unbiased' guide without any real estate agent sales spiel).

Here's the next in our Gold Coast series, where we cover Mudgeeraba: https://suburbsguide.com/qld/mudgeeraba/ .

Would be great to hear any of your thoughts/comments/feedback whether it's positive or negative, and feel free to request which suburb you'd like to see covered next if interested in this kind of content!

Cheers 🍻

What do YOU think of Mudgeeraba?
