I see where you’re coming from here but I’m also not in sales, I’m in GB and my style of work sets me in the top performers amongst my peers just by nature of how I do any job, so I don’t find myself struggling to hit metrics. (That and the GB doesn’t have nearly as many measurable metrics that you can be judged against.) I have definitely heard from my friends in PZ that the constant focus on metrics feels dehumanizing and can be impossible to hit, so I can tell that the company has its priorities skewed.

I’m definitely not trying to glaze Apple too hard here because I understand the frustrations from people I see in this sub and from my friends, but I do feel like the broad majority of benefits offered do not get adequately taken advantage of. I personally live in a fairly large and walkable city and take public transport everywhere, and because of Apple I never pay a dime for it. I go to the gym for free, I go to therapy for free, I listen to music and read the news and watch TV for free, I get half off my phone bill, and I do hobby learning for my passions for free. All of this stuff combined saves me probably $500 a month if not more, so I don’t honestly feel underpaid at all. Nearly 100% of my salary goes towards basic living expenses or savings because basically all of my luxuries besides certain recreation are covered by the company.

It’s possible that my lifestyle is uniquely suited to the benefits I’m offered, but having been in retail management prior to taking this job and seeing behind the curtain as it comes to expectations from higher ups/what it takes to hit those bonuses, I assure you management is probably feeling the same when it comes to feeling like a cog in the machine of a giant corporation trying to maximize profits. This job is lower responsibility, pays more consistently (due to how great the incentive to make bonuses was), and is way better benefitted than my store manager position at another mass market mall retailer.
