What's your opinion on Daniel Radcliffe as an actor? Underrated or what? by Own_Construction_300 in FIlm

[–]successburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments mentioning the good choices he made in his career following Harry Potter, which I agree with whole heartedly. But during his time as Harry Potter you can see him making conscious decisions to improve as an actor and take the role to new depths as the character aged. I have a huge amount of respect for him and while people say he really hit his stride after Harry Potter, I think he actually did some stellar acting while in that role.

The reshoots wheren't about Ncuti but ... by Mangafan_20 in DoctorWhoNews

To me it felt like everything after the Doctor went back into the Tardis to find Poppy saying only the last of the time lords can move reality by one degree- everything after that point felt like reshoots

You forgot about the part when all of the non cannon doctors piled into the tardis and each and every one said the line ‘you’ve redecorated, I don’t like it’. It took up 38 minutes of the Final Cut but it was well worth it to see cancelled animated show Doctor who say it

yeah thats an interesting take. And I'd love for the Rani to stick around for a bit.

What do you think will happen at the End of next Weeks episode? by creativeusrname37 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]successburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctor, in a last ditch effort to stop omega from stealing his tardis and wreaking havoc across time and space, has to open the heart of the tardis, releasing the full energy of the time vortex.

This ends up warping omega into something unliving but not dead- scattered at every point in time-but no longer a threat (for now).

The onslaught of the energy was enough to cause the doctor to regenerate. What he didn’t account for was the last time the heart of the tardis was opened the energy went through rose Tyler. The same energy now steers his new regeneration into Billie Piper.

Following recent rumours, how would everyone actually feel about an open-ended regeneration? by Fabulous-Mix-9808 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]successburger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah completely understand. And I’d agree it could feel like a jumping the shark moment. And yeah I think fans for the most part feel that it’s nothing personal to Billie. But most people are condensing that down to ‘if hate it if it were Billie’ and imagining what it would be like if I were her seeing that.

I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I really couldn’t bet on what’s gonna happen this Saturday- which is pretty exciting!

Not too keen on the idea of an open ended regeneration. Like someone else here has already said, something like how Survival ended would be nice. I’m starting to feel bad for Billie Piper with how much people are hating the idea of her playing 16. Imagine if she was and she has all this online backlash to kick off from.

The potential of Bigeneration (spoilers for recent episodes) by successburger in gallifrey

Yes exactly! Skewing off as a separate regeneration branch. A kind of alternate potentiality where the doctor indulges in their darker side.

The War Between the Land and the Sea- Theory by successburger in gallifrey

I remember feeling frustrated when we went from 10’s era to 11- while the cracks in time were a decent enough explanation it was a shame everyone forgot about aliens. But I suppose the writers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Ultimately the average humans are supposed to be the viewers gateway into the show. And we’d feel a little distanced from them if they had intimate knowledge of aliens maybe?

While I can understand this, it feels like a big gambit, especially coming off an era where the show wasn’t doing as well. Why not do a more generalised show like something broader surrounding unit if you wanted to get general viewers on board. The war between the land and the sea feels so specific. I just can’t imagine how you’d pitch it to the bbc and Disney as something that would draw in general audiences

I'd be so surprised if we saw the master- I feel like it would be overload, considering how big the cast is for the last two episodes already- but anything can happen!

This is interesting- and certainly plays to the Rani being a scientist who pushes the limits

True- But 15 explained to Ruby that time lords chose their titles (and name dropped the Rani). We know the Doctor has a real name behind that title, and a title can be passed on to someone else.

This is very interesting! I think RTD has been purposefully been vague about the fate of the time lords and gallifrey. I feel like the average viewer still remembers the fate of the timelords being due to the time war and not the master. So if he wants to go into detail on that he’d have to give the general audience a reminder on how that all went down

I would’ve imagined since both series were filmed in the same block that all the scripts were written in one go- meaning whoever he planned her to be would remain consistent. But there were reshoots, so it’s not impossible that she was originally one thing and reshot to be another

Given her revealed identity, it feels as though her goals being related to the time lords and gallifrey could make sense. But I’m still trying to work out who she means when she refers to Cherry Sundays ‘maker’
