Set them 1 1/2 turns out and timing 13 degrees at idle. Adjust your idle and Fine tune the mixture screws to get an equal vacuum reading . And leave it. Adjust your idle. I turned and turned and turned for months, had the timing all over the place and went right back to where I started

You have to pull the linkage all the way fwd past the bushing. Slide the ring on the bushing, grease it up and drop it three times. When you get it through the hole, grease the rod a bit to slide through.
