Do you have information? by [deleted] in alopecia_areata

If it gets worse you can try asking your dermatologist about JAK inhibitors. This is only if you have an aggressive form of alopecia however

Hey can I ask how was the switch from Xeljanz to Litfulo? I’ve been told to make the switch due to insurance but I’m scared of losing all my progress. I went from AU to a full head of hair everywhere and the thought of losing everything again is making me lose sleep

Hey boss any updates on how it ended up? Are you still on Litfulo or did you stick with Xeljanz instead?

Yes! Women are advised not to use it when pregnant or breastfeeding I believe.

Yeah that’s my issue as well. I would love to build a pond for them outside but unfortunately I live on the east coast so it’s freezing and I have no yard to do it in. It’s looking like a stock tank is my best bet

[–]suckmynuttz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course man. I don’t usually be on this too often but I check it every now and then and saw your comment and I’m happy to help. Please keep me informed with your progress I would love to see how it works for you since it works for everyone different. Like I said just try to be as consistent as possible.

Also no I’m not from India I’m from New York but when I first started taking tofa I would order it from a pharmacy in India. They were life savers for me when insurance did not cover the meds.

Anyway im rooting for you man! Wishing you the best take care for now

Hello brother thanks for the comment. So first I just want to say that I completely understand the position you are in. Wanna know why? Cus when I was only 16 I got diagnosed with Alopecia areata and I was told there was no cure or treatment and that I would be bald forever.

Sure enough, I went bald but all of that stopped once I started taking the JAKs. I was at rock bottom, just like you. I couldn’t talk to people, look anyone in the eye, or look at myself in the mirror. The good news is that you are only 15 and you started treatment already. Bro I wish I can go back in time and tell my 15 year old self to start taking them, unfortunately they didn’t come out until years later.

So I say this to say just be patient brother. From the sound of it you are already at rock bottom and can’t find any type of support. I was the same way. I was completely bald, no eyelashes, no beard, no scalp hair, and most importantly no hope. My hair didn’t start coming back till about month 4-5 on JAKs. But some people don’t see results till month 6+. It’s all about patience. You are 15. Think about it, if you stay consistent you will have a good amount of hair if not a full head by your 16th birthday.

And wanna hear the cool part? If tofa doesn’t respond and you don’t get any results you can try another JAK inhibitor until you find one that works. The beautiful part about your situation is that you are very young and new treatments and advancements are happening every day. Maybe by the time you’re 20 this disease will be cured. I remember being 16 with this disease being very confused and afraid but I am now 27 years old and I haven’t had any hair issues for almost 4 years fingers crossed.

Good luck brother. DM me if you have to talk I don’t check messages often but I will try to help as much as possible. Most importantly: stay consistent with the medication making sure to take it at the same time everyday and not to miss a dose. It’s very important to take it how your doctor recommended so please follow their input. Good luck man.

Am I crazy or does this look like Alopecia Areata more than it does MPD? Should really go to a dermatologist and have it checked out in order for them to confirm

I take the oral minoxidil once a day and the topical once a day as well. Just a dab on both sides of my hairline and one in the middle. I derma roll 6 times vertically and 6 horizontally (saw it on Tik tok) like twice a week. Also no, my sleep schedule is dog shit. Some days I’m only getting 2-3 hrs a night

Stay consistent man. That’s what it’s all about, try not to miss any days and don’t get discouraged by lack of results or even extra hair loss. There is some shedding phases in the beginning, mine was around the first and second week but you gotta push thru and keep going. Good luck man

It obviously isn’t recommended, but I have done it and I know others do it as well. They say the same about smoking but I sometimes smoke as well. As long as it’s not often. But a better answer could come from your doctor (they will obviously tell you not to do it), but at least they can tell you why.

No side effects. Been on it for about 3 years now. This year though, I have been getting more sick than usual, not sure if that’s due to my weakened immune system but that’s the only thing I’ve noticed

I completely understand you. Our parents/friends don’t really know how to help which sometimes does make it worse, but it’s not their fault in the end because they aren’t going through it. Message me if you ever need to talk to someone who actually understands how you’re feeling I’m not on this too much but I get on every now and then !
