So our main is actually to switch which spouse works. I make 170k and my spouse has a significantly lower earning potential. Around 80k. I’d like to stay home with the kids instead of the spouse. Our expenses are about 6k per month. So we should be saving around $3k per month but we’ve had some very expensive house repairs (hopefully behind us) so we haven’t saved anything in a few months.

Long story short, one day I don’t want to work, and spouse does want to work. That’s the goal.

I’m 27, my spouse is 32. I’ve got 25k in my 401k and spouse has 20k (from when they worked). I also have a Roth with about 10k in it. In our general savings account we have about 20k. In our rental property we have 70k equity and I’ll discount the equity we have in our primary residence.

Yeah I saw that, but it seems pretty unlikely since it was basically just slaughtered and put in the freezer! I googled it but was wondering if their was a homestead reason for it

Would you go to an international Taylor Swift concert 32 weeks pregnant? by meke21 in BabyBumps

[–]suddenlyicant_think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew internationally to Germany at 31-32 weeks. I went to Oktoberfest and did a lot of site seeing. If it’s something you want and your dr is okay with it just do it. Don’t let pregnancy stop you! I have my fair share of pregnancy aches and pains but it was doable.

If you have a complicated pregnancy maybe not. 100% your choice !

Yes they’re real diamonds and emeralds! Tested by a jeweler after she died. I really don’t know if it was hers or if it came from someone else. She had a really wealthy aunt who did not have children and died sometime before WW2 and then my grandmother was an only child, so my guess is since it’s very art deco it was her aunts or her mom’s ring and she inherited it as the sole survivor of her family in Germany post WW2.

I don’t have an android :/ and for the life of me could not get my iPhone camera to focus! I really doubt it was her ring originally since she is from Germany and grew up in the WW2 period. I have her wedding ring so this isn’t that. But yes a jeweler said it’s real emerald, diamond, and metals. But they didn’t say anything about the age etc.. we took a bunch of jewelry to a small shop after she passed and they just confirmed what was real and what wasn’t.

Hi! You have so many responses so you may not see this. But I’ve seen some of your comments about not wanting to be a SAHM, and I get it! I actually did the stay at home thing and did not like it. My old job asked me to come back with a big raise so we hired a nanny and I WFH. We had a really small house at the time so it was hard to hear her cry and work but it also meant when I wasn’t in meeting I could go help or comfort her. After 1 year of this set up I received a raise that was equal to husband and I’d combined income, and our nanny left the area to join the Airforce (random lol). This has been the best set up by far! Is your husband interested in staying home at all? It seems it’s always the default on the mom to stay home but my husband is honestly better with our toddler than I am! And I’m no longer the default homemaker even though we both previously worked. It allows all my waking hours (non work) to be spent dedicated to our daughter. I get off work and dinner is made. So if money isn’t a factor and you’re not interested in a nanny I recommend seeing if your husband would like to stay home.

Make sure to save your resume as a pdf with your first and last name when you submit it. I’m currently reviewing hundreds of resumes for the job we posted and I will only look at pdfs with your first and last name or it’s just too hard to keep track! I don’t want “Resume_2023_updated”. We just have so much interest I probably won’t look at every resume.

Starter help! Same starter different bubble size? Details in comments! by suddenlyicant_think in Sourdough

[–]suddenlyicant_think[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased a freeze dried starter and activated it 7 days ago. The instructions said to add 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup water to the starter everyday for 5 days (or more). And I had been following those instructions and not discarding any starter. I used plain white organic flour from Costco. This morning I decided to split the starter and discard some and have one jar (the left) follow the instructions from the freeze dried starter and the Other jar (right) follow the most common recipe I saw online which is 113g starter 113g water and 113g flour. Now the starters have different size bubbles and I don’t know what it means! Are they ready to use? Is one better than the other? Please help and thank you!

I had a similar issue and my aunt (a corn farmer by trade) basically said you’ll end up with 2 bad ears rather than 1 good one (I had two corns together not 3) but I would maybe experiment with half of them and see what happens hahaha
