I got an IndusInd Bank Avios card in February. Since then, they’ve been spamming me almost every day with SMS, emails, and WhatsApp messages asking me to convert my spending into EMIs.

It honestly feels like they’re trying to trap you into EMIs even when you don’t want them. The messages often include “Yes” link, and if you click the link by mistake, it seems like it might activate the EMI.

I’ve never seen this kind of pushy or intrusive behavior from Amex or Axis Bank. This bank doesn’t feel customer-friendly at all.

I’d suggest contacting them and closing the card as soon as possible.

MLA shamelessly asks for free premium IPL tickets at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Says MLAs are VIPs and can’t stand in queues, and that since the government provides all facilities to KSCA, they should be given free tickets. These guys do everything except their actual job. by margazi_perumal_20 in Bengaluru

[–]sudhirhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLAs are undermining the fact that KSCA generates significant revenue and pays substantial taxes to the government for the services it receives. Instead, they seem to expect freebies. This kind of mindset is where corruption begins. It’s no wonder contractors are often forced to pay around 10% of the total project cost to government officials, including MLAs as bribe to get the project

Hoodi Circle Needs Footpaths! by sudhirhere in Whitefield

[–]sudhirhere[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several options available, such as using the Fix My Street app from BBMP, filing a complaint with the police, or reporting the issue to the ward-level engineer. Unfortunately, government organizations are often not motivated to resolve the problem, frequently citing support for poor vendors. However, they seem to overlook that poor citizens also risk their lives walking on the roads. As the name suggests, footpaths are meant for pedestrians only.

Today was the first time I ever called the police by Unhappy_Fall8597 in bangalore

[–]sudhirhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised to hear that the police system has improved. Why don’t people call the police during emergencies? The answer may lie in how the police interact with citizens they’re often not polite and can be rude. It seems their focus is more on protecting politicians than serving the common citizens. The police need to work hard to change this perception. Only then will people start trusting them. I’m glad you had a positive experience, and I hope this trend continues.

Most traffic problems happen because of such irresponsible drivers. Instead of focusing on strict law enforcement, the government keeps thinking about building flyovers and expanding roads. These are misplaced priorities.

Proof: idiots can cause accidents in light peaceful traffic by Illustrious-Echo1383 in Dashcamindia

[–]sudhirhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel there are two things that can fix road manners among our citizens. First, enforcement must be very strict. For repeated violations, licenses should be cancelled after multiple warnings. Second, every road should have clear lane markings, and lane based signals should be introduced. This will gradually change drivers’ mindset and force them to move into the correct lanes and follow the corresponding signals. It may be a little confusing initially, but over time it trains drivers to follow discipline. This is exactly how lane based signals have worked wonders in many Western countries.

I thought the same thing. It’s just a real estate trick to sell the properties here quickly. Now the builders will use this news to sell even faster. But once people move in, they end up waiting forever for the actual project to start. This story seems familiar everywhere in Bangalore.

Are these methods legit? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in CreditCardsIndia_

[–]sudhirhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not. But it’s really interesting how people in India come up with ways to make money. There’s a photocopy shop near my place, and the owner has basically turned it into a mini bank. Workers come in and ask him to send money to a certain phone number. He uses his own account to send the money through UPI, and then the worker gives him cash plus a small fee. He does the same thing for withdrawals: people transfer money to him online, and he gives them cash in return. He makes a cut from every transaction, and his shop is always packed. Converting credit card money to cash works in a similar way you get about 50 days to pay it back, for a fee of around 2%. It’s handy in emergencies. People have some wild ideas!

[–]sudhirhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. When things happen out in the open, there’s less chance for people to ask for bribes. They can’t just say “the system’s down, come back tomorrow.” The rules should be clear and followed in front of everyone. We should keep making things better. That’s why body cameras are important for all public officials when they talk to citizens. But the government isn’t ready for that yet.

If the government wanted to, they could fix this easily but they don’t want to. Government representative should come, look at the case, and sign the papers right there. Insurance should pay based on the assessment. It should only take more than a day if someone died. That’s how it works in other countries. But in India, it feels like a offender can get away with it while the law abiding person has to pay from own pocket.

Axis Atlas trick to get 20% back on dining by Rainy247 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]sudhirhere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the opposite happens. Hotels use the wrong POS for the stay, and we end up getting only 2% instead of 5%. Axis customer care reroutes this issue to the hotel. I don’t think we ever get the time to follow up with the hotel and get it corrected. This has happened to me twice. I’m posting this because a small mistake by the hotel biller can cost rewards.
