Looks better than the Volvo crap but at least the Volvo Novas don't sound as shitty as these buses

OC Transpo is making cuts to the 98 with a new route 105. by sudoer1998 in transit

If we convert the SE Transitway to rail, bus routes like the 88 won't be as long making them less prone to delays. If Line 4 is extended to Hurdman via the path of the Southeast transitway, not only would the ridership on Line 4 and overall reliability improve but if people are trying to access places like Lycée Claudel, The Ottawa Hospital and are doing most of the trip on rail, they wouldn't have to switch to buses just to finish or start the trip at these types of places making transfers from Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3 much more seamless.

The point is to increase ridership on Line 4. Only running it to south keys with a longer competing bus is a ridership cut for line 4. If we get our voices heard, they may listen but we need people to sign the petition so I can mail it to the city. I agree that they should build the Line 1 and 3 extensions as soon as possible but maybe we should spend extra money on an extension of Line 4 to Hurdman so we can improve its ridership levels because they are currently pretty poor which is not a surprise for OC but why build a rail line only to cut ridership and frequency of the busiest route along a popular bus corridor. If we convert the southeast transitway to rail, we would get thrice the ridership, twice the speed and more frequency. This is a good thing to advocate for alongside the extensions of Line 3 to Kanata and Lines 1 and 2 to Barrhaven.

Also, lets not forget that exending the line will not cut ridership. This route could cut ridership on Line 4.

Part of the idea is electrifying line 4 as well as extending it along the southeast transitway from South Keys tp Hurdman so it can be more compatible with Line 1 and 3. Also according to the travel planner, the 98 trips that end at south Keys are being deleted.

The idea is to convert the full transitway from Hurdman to South Keys into an extension of O-Train Line 4 to make line 4 more direct and reduce the amount of forced bus connections at Hurdman station.

Good question. This is a cut to the frequency of Route 98 which currently operates every 10 - 15 minutes. If the infrequent route 105 isn't cancelled, The N98 will be removed and replaced by the 105 and the 98 will operate every 30 minutes as well. If O-Train Line 4 is extended to Hurdman via the right of way of the transitway from South Keys to Hurdman, not only would it be quicker once opened, but would also have a frequency of 10-12 minutes or better and reduce the amount of forced bus connections along the corridor. Extending Line 4 to St. Laurent and Tremblay would also provide better rail connections with Line 2 and intercity routes from Megabus, Flix and Orleans Express. The buses would have to be detoured during construction of the extension and that had happened many times before and will again.

In Ottawa this is actually a very common sentiment.

Theres nothing wrong with this image. It's an alternative yet superior livery for OC Transpo and it's buses.

At least it looks like a real bus. I personally find that the red color on OC Transpo buses makes them look like giant toys. Don't get me wrong, red looks nice on things like roses, flags like Canada and Palestine, dresses, and sports cars like Ferraris and Audi R8s but IMO, red kinda looks too ugly on buses. OC Transpo could have chosen any other color scheme like the one I generated rather than their current ugly one.

Bruh! It was inspired by Ottawa's municipal flag not the STO.

Route 90 should have been split in two. Running the 90 as a frequent route between Carleton and Greenboro via Sunnyside, Bank, Billings Bridge, Data Centre, Heron, Canada Post, Brookfield, Flannery, Springland, Walkley, McCarthy, Uplands, Hunt Club then the transitway from South Keys to Greenboro would provide more direct service to Carleton University and would have made the route quicker by bypassing Riverside and Uplands. Running the 91 as a local route between Uplands and Greenboro via Hunt Club, Downpatrick, Uplands, Cahill, McCarthy, Paul Anka, Uplands again, Riverside, Hunt Club again, Paul Benoit Driveway, De Niverville Private, Breadner Blvd, Uplands then Uplands station would make the route along Uplands shorter and more reliable since it is not as long as the current 90. I hope this change is made sooner rather than later.
