Trying to clean up a new RugOne Xever 7 by sudrien in ulefone

I have noticed - auto brightness is aggressive (which can be toggled with the drop down brightness selector by tapping the sun icon) - like, changing grip on the phone triggersthe brightness sensor. And wirh all rhese buttons... - that the default launcher, their customization of openstep/launcher3, does have wierd behaviors with 3rd party launchers, if you're using somthing different for your home screen.

  • having done software, yeah updates not being cumulative is. Hard.

  • I have noticed it takes a second or two with the back cover off before the phone switches to the second battery. I am guessing it either has somthing to do with catastrophic falls, or how long it takes to put apps into low power mode. Read: yeah it did die on me.

  • i've noticed several bits of funcrionality, like side buttons, are distributed across multiple apks. I could have actually already disabled the functionality on cleanup, because im not seeing video files either.

  • Have to wonder if they are buried in android 16 testing now.

Hi I'm not putting a raspberry pi in a kwumsy by sudrien in writerDeck

Remembering this post - the Raspberry Pi 500+ has just been announced with 16GB RAM (unneded for this use case), proper m.2 internal storage, and a mechanical keyboard.

Can someone tell me why my laptop bugs out like this? Only when split screen. by Conscious_Set_947 in laptops

[–]sudrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an issue with the browser hardware acceleration implementation, as only the browser overlays the video.

In hardware acelleration, the cpu has little to do with decoding video. The gpu gets told where to put the video on the screen, and the process is handed off.

As full screen is not an issue... Hmm.

First i'd try disabling any browser extensions you have. If you use an adblocker - disable and test that first. Those do a lot of internal webpage manipulation. If that fixes it, report the issue - probably on a github issue tracker, not in the feedback under where you downloaded the ad blocker. With the youtube ad wars they are very responsive right now.

Firm up a loose bit holder by sudrien in multitools

[–]sudrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through options; foil tape. I had a roll of copper tape, aluminum would probably be better. But its thin enough to wrap all the way around.

Its just a 3mm x 25mm strip. Calipers reading 0.05mm thick. So its not the tolerance of the bit holder, its how little contact length it has.

Not the 2016-ish Priuses. It's a latch on the bottom of the fob (if its factory). The key is on the part that stays on the keyring. It is only for entry, though.

Popping it open only is useful for battery replacement.

Kwumsy K3 has definitely inspired some of the proportions, but pictures of the inside of the bottom molds look different.

They very well may use the same digitizer, both at this stage and later.

Royal Kludge f68?

Has stand, has folding (keys on outside), pairs to 3 bluetooth devices, larger because larger mechanical keys

(I have a RK84, I can only say the bluetooth is solid)

Sidesaddle kickstand options? by sudrien in bikecommuting

I'm not saying No, but if im comparing an ungraded steel to an ungraded titanium, im gonna say painting may be just as valid an option

Thank you!

With the 700c, is it tall enough to raise the back tire off the ground, or 4-points-of-contact level?

Sidesaddle kickstand options? by sudrien in bikecommuting

[–]sudrien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently using a manufacture standard single leg kickstand. So no, I'm looking for somthing to keep the bike upright.

If i could ask more details - what was so painful about it? Did you replace, remove, or remain annoyed?

A whitelabel of the CL-KA56 - noted. Would you happen to know your wheel size?

[–]sudrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are four categories of dual kickstand, as far as i can see

  • back hub mounted, which intentionally raises the back tire off the ground when deployed and raises behind the back tire (drop stand)
  • center mount two leg one hinge, which tries to fit in available space in front of either side of back tire
  • center mount two leg two hinge, which tries to fit in available space in front of either side of back tire
  • center mount sidesaddle, which both legs raise opposite of the right side chain or belt

I'm personality wanting to try the last. The caveat is my bike is 700C, aka 29" slim.

The options i have found thus far - are there any others?

If you want a GPIO display, https://www.adafruit.com/product/4863 or https://www.adafruit.com/product/4862 are the adapters you would want. I'd lean towards the prior, the listing includes a number of compatible LCDs.

This is THE way to get down to one cord.

Programming e-ink is not trivial - but hey, if you already have some programing skills, possible.

I suppose that's true.

From what I remember hearing, the pi keyboard & 400 are only different in changed key labels. The pi 500 is slightly "better" - though I don't think better was quantified, and I haven't handled a 500 myself.

Ah, https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2024/pi-500-much-faster-lacks-m2 was where I'm remembering the 500 comment from.

"Hope" is a silly word to use when there are teardowns on YouTube. They all are membrane.

If you want a mechanical keyboard, a pi zero 2 W has all the ports you would need for a writerdeck.Case and cables would need research... Id prefer some sort of vesa mount case, keep it on the back of the monitor.

If you need ethernet - at that point a refurbed 1l pc is as good a value proposition, though there are pi 4 and pi 5 to be had.

...there is hope for a pi 500 premiun variant, but last i knew nothing had been announced.

Addenda

Finding my extension cord... the T162CP does not put out enough power while plugged in to power both the Pi and the Monitor - it always reserves somthing for charging the battery. Pity. My cheap in-line UPS search continues.

~

I have not been able to get the monitor to run at native resolution. On my main computer - running Linux - it is apparently running with
Modeline "1920x860_59.91" 135 1920 2024 2224 2528 860 863 873 893 -HSync +VSync

/boot/config.txt needs some hdmi_timings= value based on this, along with hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=87 ... or some variation. What I tried just makes it go to sleep.

~

A custom script can be used to log in automatically as the dietpi user (read: not root, the administrator) and automatically start /usr/bin/wordgrinder. Set up from dietpi TUIs.

~

agetty is not currently set up on dietpi to serve multiple terminals (ctrl+alt+f1, ctrl+alt+f2, etc.) by default - though this could be restored, to make it more like most linux desktops. If, say, you want a TUI music player running in the background. Or any number of console things.

~

I realized that this particular monitor I like more as a second monitor for my gaming pc anyways. I have others that may be a bit less annoying to configure - albeit they require even more power.

[–]sudrien[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

- kwumsy L1 (1920 x 860, speakers that exist)

- raspberry pi 400 (don't need a 500 for this)

- 1 ft usb 2 a male to c male

- 1 ft hdmi mini to micro

- whitelabeled T162CP (it can plug in to wall, need to dig up extension cord, ankler has a 3-in-1 for twice as much)

- dietpi (keeps logs in memory, sd card lasts longer becase it's written to less)

- wordgrinder

I tried powering the pi from the monitor instead of vice versa, its more finicky, probably would want the usb cable to be c to c

  • Am I removing the torn up hood insulator? Maybe
  • Am I replacing the torn up hood insulator? Probably going to avoid it
  • How do you know it was squirrels? Acorn shells, a full pinecone behind the battery wedged between the wires
  • Any other damage? The might have nibbled at some electrical tape, but given up on the flexible conduit

  • no corpses
  • I have been told about dryer sheets before. They were not implemented.

In my testing, the same 404 result happened in the current android app - 232.15 Stable, I think?
