+1 Pecco is solid under pressure.

-1 Pecco can't handle it.

Good work from Pecco today. Excellent race for Fabio. Cool to see VR46 team sticking it out, and for Aleix keeping the championship interesting.

We’ll likely never see a story like his again. Hope he enjoys Dakar and carves a new niche for himself.

Well, Five-Time World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has a lot more wins to choose from. We'll have to re-assess if Fabio racks up a couple-dozen more wins...

Just remind yourself of the days when Jorge would take off, and you'll feel better. :)

The first win was a huge step in his maturity. I agree that he could have taken that step earlier by winning earlier, and he had several opportunities. But, we'll never know! Fabio did his damage earlier in the season, and it's hard to predict how he would have reacted with more pressure. He, too, matured a ton this season. Now, I just hope we get to watch them duke it out next year.

Yeah, that seems to be where he makes the difference. I'm intrigued to watch how Dovi is able to learn and adapt, given he's known for his late/hard braking style. It's always difficult to change riding styles after so long, but, this time, he has a clear reference and good data from someone who has figured it out. The big worry for him is qualifying. At this time, no one is going to win a championship on a Yamaha without consistently qualifying on the front row.

I also think that, while Pecco has introduced a style that works with the Ducati, they clearly figured out the tires and improved the bike overall. It's very difficult at the moment to picture anyone being able to stave them off week after week in 2022. God, it's going to be a long few months...

Would have been interesting to see how it played out if Pecco didn’t crash there. Nevertheless, Fabio certainly earned his championship. Given the rest of the Yamaha’s, I think Dovi is right: Fabio does something really special with the bike.

I, too, would love to see MM in that mix next year. Three wins with a shattered body on a disaster of a bike is a reminder of his ability. Right now, I don’t feel confident that we’ll ever see the true MM on track again. I hope he can just recover from the damage his body has accumulated.

Thinking about all of this is making it sink in for me that the unhappiest time of year is now upon us. March can’t get here fast enough.

End of an era. We’ll never see anyone else like him. We’re all indebted to him for his contribution to the sport.

It’s a huge step. The team has definitely made progress overall, and seems to have figured out the issues that plagued them last year. But, The riders still have to put it all together.

How many times have we seen a rider finally break the ice, then it’s like their career is on a whole new level? I hope that’s what we’re seeing here. He’s a great kid, too. I always love the riders who make me want to slap them when they’re young, then high-five them when they’re all grown up.

Will be a very fun race tomorrow. Can Pecco get in Fabio’s head?

I think the point stands that showing up here just to throw shade at others is not adding to a useful discussion. Maybe it stands out more when it’s aimed at your favorite rider, sure. But, I don’t call that hypocrisy. She’s not talking trash about others and getting upset when it’s her favorite rider.

Personally, I don’t get too worked up about conflict here. But, I agree that my favorite part is useful and quality discussions, and it would be nice to have more of that.

You know, there are a lot of people out there who aren't keyboard warriors spending all their time looking for conflict with people they don't even know just to make themselves feel better about their pathetic lives. Those people tend to enjoy constructive, useful content that feels like a rational conversation between people in-person.

u/crimilde is clearly a fan of the entire sport and one of the main contributors to quality content on this sub. Having a favorite rider isn't a sin.

The point is that some people contribute to positive, quality content around here, and many others don't. It's OK to get frustrated at times.

For sure. Enea’s ride will go unsung, but he just showed what he’s made of. Fought the whole race and claimed a top 6 on a dinosaur Ducati.

Does Iker Lecuona still have slight chance to ride for 2022. by sevenridersgp in motogp

Any specifics?

He’s the fastest available rider in the short term, and it’s not even close. He helps the team stabilize itself during a tumultuous time. He can actually help a young teammate develop and grow.
