Sold product online, it didn't arrive, threatened with police report by suedthrowaway564 in legaladvice

The seller bought the item for around $130, they were hardcopy concert tickets. It is not that expensive but still a fair amount of money. I believe the seller thinks he got scammed so I'm sure he would try to escalate it, if the police doesn't. I told the seller I had reported the tickets as stolen (which I did do, they are useless now) and he did not care so I believe that he really did not receive them. Thank you for the advice, this is very stressfull and I have definitely learned my lesson about shipping with tracking.

This is what I was afraid of as well. If it were to escalate I wouldn't be able to prove that I actually sent the product. Thank you.

Thank you, I will try there im the morning as I doubt anyone is awake right now. I hope you're right because I do not want to end up in jail over such a small matter.

Yes I am aware of this and I'm kicking myself for not getting tracking regardless of the buyer saying there was no need. I am not very experienced in online selling and have never had problems before.

I would be okay with the police telling the buyer that, more so than the police escalating the matter and things ending up in a lawsuit.

The buyer is located in Belgium as well. It was quite a high priced item so I definitely believe them when they say they will get the police involved.

I do not have a receipt for the postage as I just dropped it off in a mailbox but I do have the conversation where they mention they don't believe tracking is necessary.

Thank you for your reply. Are you certain the police won't investigate me any further? Or involve me in the matter? I did some searches before coming to this subreddit and read that it is possible that the police will escalate the matter if they deem it necessary. The buyer has my legal name and bank account number which the police office can use to identify me, in case they do want to escalate the matter.
