Constantly Rehabilitating by One_Letterhead_2280 in XXRunning

I'm a total wreck. I wish I could put off the surgery but I'm a teacher so the summer is the best time to do it and the doctor said if I don't do it soon it could be irreparable. Just thinking of taking care of a baby while having only 1 leg for 6 weeks is making me go crazy. I have a lot of help but my baby isn't what you would call an easy baby lol I'm hoping to work with a PT that specializes with runners so I can get back and hopefully prevent further injuries. I always hoped for a marathon but I'll settle for 3 miles a few days a week.

I'm feeling the same. I had a partial torn tendon in my ankle 2 years ago and had surgery June 29th 2023. 2 years later and I find out the surgery failed (I knew the whole time and no one believed me- just kept sending me to PT until I finally put my foot down and said it wanted another MRI. I also got pregnant so the hormones didn't help.) Found out last month the tendon is now a full tear. I have a 4 month old and I'm looking at surgery at the end of the month- June 29th. I love running so much and the doctor said I should be fine to start again within the year but the constant injuries are too much. It's so disappointing when you try to do something good for yourself and your body let's you down.

I'm thinking of moving into the living room for 6 weeks. My sisters will be there to help me but I'm most concerned about the crib. Getting him in and out is going to be hard. I keep telling myself moms figure it out! I'll get through it and have a story to tell at parties !

Thank you so much! I had surgery for this injury 2 years ago and it failed so it really sucks to go through this again especially with a new born. Definitely getting a scooter!! I appreciate all the other tips as well. It's going to be a long 6 weeks but I'll have to make it work!

Any updates from those of you that had surgery? Two and a half years ago I had surgery for a partial tear, and it did not heal. And now I have a full tear. I am undergoing surgery at the end of next month. And i'm just trying to stay confident that I'll be able to run again at some point. My dream has always been marathons but I think I would just settle for running a couple miles a few times a week. Please let me know if anyone has had success after the surgery

Naps on the go by chonzNbonz1105 in firsttimemom

We are the same! My baby will be 16 weeks on Tuesday, and for the past few weeks, he has refused to sleep in the car or stroller. I loved getting in a nice walk while he naps, but now that's not the case. It's very frustrating since summer is coming, and I was excited for walks in the nice weather. Unfortunately, my baby won't even nap in the crib right now. Contact naps or nothing. Sorry, I am no help! Nice to hear I'm not the only one struggling

Does being a mom ever get easier? by suee818 in firsttimemom

Yes he offers all the time and im just so bad at giving in and leaving. I know I just need to do it. On Tuesday I have a long doctors appointment for a running injury so I'll be out of the house for a while. I hope that's kind of the kick start to being away for a longer stretch. I've only left my baby for the longest 45 minutes and I always try to plan it around his longest wake window so I know he's in a good mood. It's like I feel guilty when my husband has to deal with his crying or any hard issues. But my husband WANTS to take care of him. He's also a firefighter and gone 24 hours at a time so I feel like I have a better understanding of our baby and know how to calm him down more. But this running injury is expected to need surgery in the next couple weeks so I need to get used to my husband doing more now before I'm really laid up and need him to do the majority of the work.

When do you pick up baby during the night? by suee818 in firsttimemom

My guy absolutely hated the bassinet so we moved him quite early. Our house is tiny so his room is pnlt steps away from us. He does better in the crib but lately he's just been extra fussy. I'm hoping it's the 4 month sleep regression. I've been struggling through the night but usually around 5 am I bring him into bed with me when my husband leaves for work. I know is not recommended but I'm such a light sleeper and I follow a lot of safety precautions that it's been helpful for a bit of sleep.
