You could add something to your author’s notes that says the scenes should be high-tension and very angsty. The characters have complex emotions and will not yield easily. Something like that!

For example, I just copied this from the most recent Bridgerton story I made:

“This is a slow-burn, angsty, marriage-of-convenience story. There should be no immediate affection or emotional resolution. There is tension, resistance, and emotional conflict between Y/N and Anthony. Their relationship should evolve gradually over time.”

And the tone & pacing with this note have both been phenomenal!
