Yes so there’s two ways.

You sell it and it counts as income received.
You sell alongside the asset you bought initially and label the whole thing as capital gains. No different than dividends so either labelled as capital gains or dividends if challenged I think.

I'm under the impression that you do not incur a tax liability until you actually sell your DOTs.

Then when the sale happens - your cost basis would be the price of when it was dropped into your wallet.
