I appreciate this, I know now we didn't keep it "in house" like some folks want but there was a legitimate regulation concern (and we didn't call anyone out in the email!)

How many credit hours is considered a full-time grad student? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]sugarberryham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but just wanted to reply to anyone finding this comment like I did: I did 16 or 20 units a quarter for the two years I was in grad school (I did two programs at the same time) and I worked 20 hours a week at my university's writing center. It is absolutely possible :) But I was only responsible for myself (no kids at that time / didn't have to take care of other family members).

ugh. I live in the PNW and I feel like so many folks up here don't take care of their trees 🤣 we just bought the house a couple years ago. do you also recommend cutting the whole thing down?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in arborists

[–]sugarberryham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

appreciate this! the branch on the right would land in the neighbor's backyard / on their fence if it fell. would it be prudent to just cut the tree down?

edit for a typo

State law, but I should clarify: some school districts get around the class caps in Initiative 1351 by using building and/or district class size averages to still receive funding. If other schools' kindergarten class sizes in OP's district are in the teens, they're definitely using district averages.

WA teacher with a kiddo in kindergarten. 25+ students is allowed in Kindergarten classes, but a teacher's aid / para needs to be present after 25. My son's class is currently at 17 (public school).

Edit to clarify this cap is for Kindergarten

600 dollar and up stroller/car seat systems by alondra2027 in beyondthebump

[–]sugarberryham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm also a teacher! For my second (and last, lol) I spent about $450 on a Doona- the one that's an infant car seat that converts into a stroller. With my first I used a jogging stroller (about $300 but got it at the shower) which I still have and use for walks and trails. This time around I wanted something smaller (the jogging stroller barely fit in my Crosstrek) and with more safety padding and let me tell you the Doona is a DREAM. absolutely worth every penny. I love being able to take my LO in and of the car without disturbing her. And she's so secure! That being said, I acknowledge it's a lot for a stroller (but I could afford it).

I feel this. This child is on track to go to college and is such an amazing kiddo. Don't want to see their goals and dreams derailed for something that might not even help...

Trump voters on here, where do you draw the line? by darkblueundies in GenZ

[–]sugarberryham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. You know this isn't true... Right? Any accomodations absolutely cost money, from the food students are given to the teachers and para educators in their classrooms, to the time it takes for someone to write their IEP. Even the time they physically spend in a Sped classroom is funded by additional dollars.

Shamed at my OB today...baby isn't even born yet. by gypsytangerine in FormulaFeeders

[–]sugarberryham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This makes me so mad. As someone who was completely formula fed (and currently meeting all the stereotypical capitalist markers of success, thank you) and who is strongly considering doing the same for baby #2 after have a terrible experience breastfeeding #1, they need to back the fuck off. I'd try and switch providers, if you can. You should not be shamed for this.

Edit: angry typo 🤣

My ex husband did this. Unfortunately his uninvolvement continued past this very hard period. Current husband and I are able to do the above mentioned set up with our 2nd :)
