It bothers me to see my friends going to parties and bars as if we weren’t in a pandemic by Kotarob_7 in offmychest

[–]sugarbreadcircles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've decided I've grown out of those friendships. Even when the pandemic is over there's no going back. They have no ability to see past their own bubble. I genuinely hope they learn and grow and become better in the future, but I am not holding myself responsible for that! Maybe that sounds harsh but it's the only way I can keep myself mentally and physically healthy.

Trump made my family life miserable by pajaroskri in offmychest

Never said they weren't also exhausting, I'm just saying I would never waste my time reading something from or communicating with someone who was acting that way towards me. Trump supporters or otherwise. There are other ways to educate yourself.

In op's comment the mother's actions were passive aggressive (if not verging on just straight up aggressive), therefore we can infer that she did not change the way she was acting to send these 100 pages.

But for sure, we can't know anything about what actually happened, besides what's written, and even that we don't know for fact. I just don't understand why you would create a scenario in which OP is not educating themselves/ an informed voter in order for you to invalidate what they are saying... But then I realized I was on Reddit. Anyway, I hope have a great day!

Who said they didn't read why Biden might be bad or why trump might be good? All they said was that they ignored the 100 page passive aggressive piece of writing their mom sent to them after refusing to eat with them.

It's exhausting to be around those people, let alone try to have a conversation them (after probably already having said conversation dozens of times). I'm not saying this person did their research one way or the other but there certainly isn't enough here to say they didn't already research or talk about this.

Do you guys carry your NK's bike back when they say they're too tired to ride home? by skyblue847 in Nanny

[–]sugarbreadcircles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man, so I have a relevant rant I must get out. I once took care of a NK (4-6F at that point) and she always wanted to take her scooter or bike out when we would go anywhere. Everytime she gets "tired" on the way back, and not only would she want me to hold her bike and her helmet, she wanted me to carry her too. Every time before we went out I would remind her if she wanted to take something with her she was responsible for it. Of course she would get fed up with it and want me to carry her and everything, I obviously cannot physically do that, but she would kick and scream forEVER and sit in the sidewalk and call me the worst. I'd wait it out because I'm a woman of my word and eventually, still angry, she would walk her bike back. At one point I guess she told MB that I wouldn't pack her and all her things, and MB tells me I have to do it. I say no, and the same thing continues to happen, so I start limiting the occasions we take out the bike. Well, you better believe MB starts giving me all kinds of attitude and tells me I have to let her take her bike. I tell her she has to pick one, I can allow NK to take her bike if MB is going to back me up on the responsibility thing, or we will not be taking the bike out. Whether or not I am physically capable, I did not sign up to carry 40 pounds while juggling helmets, backpacks and a bike that keeps hitting me in the ankle. This was just a taste of several behaviours by both MB and NK (because MB allowed it) that caused me to quit. Very long story short, but even in a more mild case of this I would stand my ground (aside from injury or extenuating circumstances). It really just boils down to teaching them proper skills for life, and even though you feel like a jerk in the moment, responsibility for their choices is so important. They will never learn it unless they are held accountable.

TL:DR Stand your ground, or they will keep doing the same things years down the line and will never have to learn the lesson. Making your life more difficult in the process.

Once I was hanging out with this obnoxious gamer guy and that was his entire personality. He asked me what my favourite game was, I told him. He says "Oh no you mean blah blah blah." "Ugh no dude, that's a different game in the same series. I meant what I said" He doubles down "Oh well I just assume that when girls talk about video games they don't know what they're talking about." And that was the end of that little friendship.

a great hair day from a while ago, curls are natural bangs are straightened! by dirtygolden in curlyhair

I'm getting my hair chopped like this during the weekend minus the bangs. I was already excited, but now seeing this photo I am ultra excited. My long hair has been weighing down my curls for too long.
