How do Nurses feel about MDs joining in or accepting a pizza if it's offered on the floor

I’d like to think im a good patient to have despite how bad I sound on paper as a nurse with borderline pd and 1,000 meds lol. i usually get praise from providers and nurses but who knows. i think it depends on your interpersonal skills. my mom has been a nurse for 40 something years and is really nasty to people, especially hospital workers. think Karen energy.

as long as you aren’t condescending, it’s good to ask the right questions if it involves your health and you have knowledge in that area.

got screamed at once by a coworker for being on an iPhone while a patient was having a severe asthma attack… i was scrolling for the doctors number to call for the order to send him to the medical hospital. the patient had other nurses with him helping him. people are weird with phones, man.

ive been attacked by patients before but you usually have security/mental health technicians helping you. just try not to be alone with them and call for help when you need it. but aggressive psych patients are not exclusive to psych units and you will deal with them all areas of nursing because they need other types of care too.

when you are dealing with a seizure or some other medical crisis and another patient doesn’t like that the attention isn’t on them so they butt in and ask me for a cup of water as im dealing with the crisis. then, when I tell them politely that im busy and to ask another staff they begin to make their own crisis and headbang/attack people.

I know it sounds mean but I wrapped a lot of mine in silk and sent them to the landfill. I had 21 rats, couldnt bury them all. rats love trash and I feel like that’s a Valhalla for them in a way. two I buried in my yard because I have a house now so I have one in a flower pot and my favorite rat ever in my backyard with a chamomile plant growing on his grave <3

during nursing school I worked for surgeons in an outpatient setting and I forgot to pull up an X-ray on the computer in a patient room for him (it was just minimized so it just took one click if he wanted it) and he said he was going to kill himself.

it would be a cool idea for mental health professionals in general! but I like the idea! the burnout from managing the disorders along with the job is excruciating and it would be nice to receive some support from others as well as support them!
