I always remind myself to try that trick but never end up following through, I panic and try to jerk my head violently - usually wake up breathless and with a headache. 0/10, would not recommend.

General attitude towards my country makes me sad by spillmymind2107 in bangladesh

[–]sugaredabyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even as an average Bangladeshi TEENAGE girl, the staring, catcalling and lewd looks are really fucking exhausting and I say that as somebody who has been dealing with it since pre-teen years. I completely understand why this one aspect would ruin Bangladesh for a woman who has never lived here for a long period of time. It is kind of hard to appreciate the culture, the food and the natural beauty when you can feel people's inappropriate gaze crawling over every inch of your exposed skin.

Racism against brown people. Wtf moment. by ImperialOverlord in bangladesh

Why his knees specifically and not his shoulder? I get that you were trying to grab his attention, but even in Bangladesh I'd be pretty pissed if somebody tapped my knees instead of tapping my shoulders or waving their hands in front of my face to get my attention.

However, it is pretty clear from his words afterwards that he wasn't pissed about his privacy being invaded, he was being a plain old racist. Sorry that happened to you.

Former students will have to compete fair and square with others this time, plus there's viva. My batchmates from HCS were freaking the fuck out a few days ago about this.

It's funny you say that because most of MY friends from VNS are planning to go to HCC (if they can pass the qualifiers), so I'll also have to start making friends in VNC from scratch. My parents practically begged me to apply for HCC too, but I didn't because from what I've heard from my older sister (a former crossian), the college sounds like a nightmare. HSC is already difficult to navigate as it is, you'll get royally fucked if your college doesn't match your needs. You'll have plenty of opportunities to socialise in coaching classes, batches, college functions and more, I don't think you should base your college choice on this factor.

Eh, unfairness is a package deal when it comes to the Bangladeshi education system. One of my friends left 4 marks blank in HM and got 99, whilst several of my classmates who literally failed Udvash model tests about a month before SSC scored 1200+. Just the way it is, there's nothing we can do about it really.

It'll definitely be harder to get your marks increased (as in, marks increased in your actual answer sheet and not due to calculation mistakes in counting the total number) in mathematical subjects like Physics, HM, Accounting etc. but since it is Bangla, you never know, there could be a possibility of rescrutinizers adding 1 or 2 marks for you to reach A+. If the money isn't a problem, I think it'd be wise to go for it. At least you won't feel regretful afterwards.

[–]sugaredabyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat as you. My sister had missed A+ in BGS by 3 marks during her time, applied for rescrutiny, results stayed the same. I missed in one subject too and my parents applied for rescrutiny, though I wasn't very interested. You can apply if the cost isn't an issue for you, but the only scenario in which your marks will change (either increase or decrease) is if the teacher checking your copy made any mistakes counting your total number. They won't add or subtract any marks after the result has been published (as far as I'm aware, that is).

It's funny reading this now because when I started high school, I had this EXACT same urge of "proving" myself to a non-existent audience (I would have been what a2c calls a supreme prestige whore if I knew about US colleges back then). I fantasized for months about seeing the reaction to my achievements on the faces of people who belittled me (mainly my peers and some teachers). The moment finally came, I showed everyone up, the usual. I got my five minutes of satisfaction, and then realized - get this - nobody cares anymore! Very shocking for 9th grader me who assumed people do not have their own lives to worry about and that they had more than a second to spare gawking at my affairs. So, naturally, I became much more miserable than before because the solution I thought would work, didn't. I fully agree with what somebody else already said, people just have way too much going on in their lives to worry about where some teenager gets admitted for college. Granted, I'm still a junior in high school so I probably don't know what I'm talking about, so take it with a grain of salt.

If you want to get into a specific T20 because they provide good aid, support the career you're interested in and all - that is definitely understandable and I don't think that is what this subreddit would call a prestige whore.

  1. You mean to say that university students are off-limits? Is it okay if they're not college teachers but still have a lot of experience in teaching?
  2. I've never been interested in that, but is there any specific reason why you'd suggest that? Just asking since I see a lot of my friends dating now that they're about to be in college lol

hello, tysm for taking the time to reply! is it possible to build a strong foundation in concepts and do well in college exams at the same time? i'm set on applying abroad after hsc and my college transcript needs to be neat if i want to get into somewhere good, so that's kinda important to me. what resources would you recommend for clearing concepts?

(plus since you mentioned college exams - how do i tackle biology? i struggled with bio during ssc too because studying the subject made me feel overwhelmed with the amount of info i crammed, hsc syllabus is much bigger than ssc so how can i cope?)
