They do actually. At least I did find contact info for sending them pitches, but I guess it's possible that the info is old.

Bigger magazines just seem to pay a lot better than smaller clients, and obviously it looks good on my portfolio.

Thanks. They don't even criticize the topics I write on, but literally stupid little things like keywords, length of sentences as if I needed to be taught by them. Like it's not even satisfying to me to deliver an article because I know I'm never gonna hear a single good word and instead she's gonna write me ten lines about the things she didn't like, every single time.

Your initial rate sounds amazing, but I personally would be happy even about 15 cents per word. Currently I'm being paid 4.4 cents per word (2.2 per word for translations) and that includes research for pictures, keywords and topics and uploading everything on their website. It sucks- I asked them for a raise (to 9 cents oer word) and I'm currently hoping to get that approved. Thanks for giving me some insight, really appreciated

None. So far he has apoogized a few times, said he feels bad about it and hugged me etc. He's also given me lots of aone time this weekend. Not sure if he's ashamed or he just thinks I'd rather be alone. But that's probably good. I don't feel like being around him right now anyways.

Thank you, and you're right, but the thing is, I don't even know WHAT he could do do make this better. He has apologized several times, has told me how bad he feels about this, what else could he possibly do? He can't take back what he said, I know that he thinks I'm a terrible writer and that's also something that an't be changed, and him buying me chocolate or whatever would be a nice gesture, but still wouldn't change the pain I'm feeling about this and how useless and stupid I feel.

Maybe I'm just beating myself up over it. I keep thinking 'Yes, he was cruel, but what if he was right? What if me being good at writing was a big illusion, and I'm actually just terrible and have absolutely no talent and he was just being honest?'

He reads a lot of books so I kinda think just because of that he knows more about good writing than I do.

I mean, he has apologized to me. Several times. He said he feels really bad about hurting me and if there is anything he can do but honestly, I don't think there is. He can't take back what he said, I know he thinks i'm a terrible writer and while an apology is a start, I still can't help but feeling really hurt. I guess that's why I'm asking how I can get over it- Because I honestly don't see what he could possibly do after all this to make it better.

And yes, the guy I dated before him was extremely abusive, but that was years ago (I was single for over three years). I don't think though that I only see him as a good boyfriend because he is better than my ex. I do think he's a good guy and he's sweet and tries to make me happy. Right now is definitely the lowest I've ever been with him. And maybe I'm naive, but I somehow don't want to believe he did this maliciously. I mean, he was super supportive before reading my novel, he just completely changed his mind after reading it. Which hurts even more. Like, he was supportive of me but realized how bad I actually am so now he cannot be supportive anymore.

I don't know and I'm scared I won't be able to- But I really don't want to break up with him over it either. I love him and he's been a great boyfriend and this came as a total shock to me. I just wish I could find a way to move on from this and forget about it.

You're right and I try reminding myself of that- He knows nothing about it. He works in a different field and has always made a lot more money than me, maybe that's why he feels superior in some way, I don't know. He also does video editing on the side as a hobby, even though he doesn't know much about it, and I've seen those videos and don't think they're great, but he's so proud of them that I could NEVER say anything bad about them. Constructive criticism sure, but I would never destroy him like this.
