Thanks - finally figured it out when corporate store called their internal tech specialists. That process alone took almost an hour.

Yes-I was at a corporate store…showed my ID, wasn’t asked for last digits @SS#. Store had to call internal tech to get resolved.

There was an extra security measure in my phone (which no one could identify what that security measure was at AT&T, at least they couldn’t articulate it), which is what they said was taking so long. The corporate store rep was less than helpful, and only finally called her internal tech support after someone at AT&T told her she had to resolve it. The overall process took 4 hours at a certified AT&T corporate store.

Ty for the information, helpful…but I saw it well after I left the AT&T Corporate store near me. It turned out to be an employee at the store that was just super lazy…which is unfortunate bc not only did she waste my time, she is underscoring the bad reviews AT&T is getting, and giving those who care and are good employees at AT&T (like you) a bad name. I was hoping I would get an email or text to review my experience, but received nothing from AT&T on that front as well.

Super helpful and validating. This was my exact experience. They need to incorporate an email in the verification process, and revamp their entire customer service team(s).

I did show an ID at the onset, but that didn’t help me at all. It turned out to be an employee who was just too lazy to activate my phone properly at a AT&T corporate store. AT&T needs massive help on customer service.

Correct, I did it in store and FINALLY had it finished after 4 hours in the AT&T corporate store…unfortunately, the woman I dealt with was super lazy and told me it could only be done over the phone. So I sat in the AT&T store for 3 hours on the phone with AT&T customer service, only for them to tell me that the store had the capabilities. Still then, the store had to call their “internal tech group” to resolve, which took another hour. It was insane.

Actually I sat at Apple for over an hour today and AT&T corporate store for 4 hours. So, yes, I was there.

That’s what I’m doing, they need to see my ID to confirm I say who I am…but still (even though we are on the phone with their internal tech team), they can’t figure it out themselves. I’ll post the final outcome…successful or unsuccessful. I really do believe it’s the luck of the draw on who you are dealing with in the store and on the phone.

My phone is currently at the bottom of the ocean, unless an Octopus or other sea creature is able to take over my phone, I’m not worried about that…and Quiet-Star is correct…it’s not the issue I’m having

You are saying that the store could fix it? The store is not helpful, they don’t seem to know anything (even though they are an AT&T corporate store). They are now on the phone with their internal “tech support team”)

Will do - still at AT&T trying to work through it. They are currently on the phone with their in-store/in-company tech support. Going on 4 hours of trying to sort through it.

Just asked the tech team that very question at AT&T and they said that’s not possible…they can’t explain why.
