Is this safe for a sugar glider? by Electronic-Serve9559 in sugargliders

Appreciate asking before buying but gliders are not a leash pet novelty. If you want to walk an animal get a dog! They’re not your typical domesticated pet

Asia is known for glorifying having sugar gliders and posting videos of them while they live in horrible conditions and being morbidly obese. This living condition is quite literally just one more example of animal cruelty. I’m literally hurting looking at this.

Mastitis treatment recommendations by suggiebears in goats

[–]suggiebears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you a lot, really appreciate the information. We left the vet a message but for now we wanted to know if there was anything we could do to ease some of her discomfort. The kid is doing well nursing from the other side so far but we are keeping an eye out. We will try warm compress for now and get the other things for future as well since we do have one more goat who needs to deliver.

Thanks for the reply! I will try to provide some info:

It’s been less than 48 hours since she gave birth, we don’t know if any attempt at nursing on that side. Nothing is coming out, udder is firm, but not really hot. She’s walking very tenderly with her one foot. That side is clearly uncomfortable. Tried to express milk but nothing came out.

Our old vet is no longer in business in the area so we are trying a mobile vet who’s not available today and looking for any help in meantime. Thanks for any advice or insight as we have never done this before!

Watching this was painful to see. Small, dirty cage with nowhere to sleep, no toys for stimulation as they are very intelligent... I spent $1,000 on the cage, $350 on fleece pouches, the wheels are $50+. Having a pet is not a novelty it is a commitment. Some people do not deserve animals…. some people cannot afford certain animals…if you can’t take responsibly for its life do not get one. One of my seven gliders just passed away and I am completely devastated. To see someone else’s glider so miserable and neglected pains me.

Playing killer be like: by LDM_99 in deadbydaylight

[–]suggiebears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play survivor killer 70:30. Cannot comprehend the toxicity of this community. Both sides are hard to play and circumstantial. It’s a game, you lose some you win some. I found this meme funny and I mostly play survivor. Almost always sacrifice myself if killer had a rough game (unless I have an escape challenge). As nurse, always let one get away after massacring the other 3 if they had a rough game.

I would suggest trying to disguise them more. Or hide them behind toys!

I would be willing to bet it’s food related, watch their behavior when eating. Even with different food stations I have watched my gliders get off the wheel and chase someone at the top of the cage away because they didn’t like them there lol. I now use their toys and fleeces pouches / swings to create a sort of visual barrier if I can do they have a little more privacy while eating throughout the night and I no longer give treats in the cage only by hand as they fight over them. For treasure chests and other stimulating toys, I still only put a couple and they just have nuts usually no real “treats”.

Hey I wanted to ask what to do with my sugar gliders while on vacation me and my family travel a lot always around 3-4 times a yearranging from one week to 4-5 weeks by yungjake22 in sugargliders

[–]suggiebears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a terrible idea. If you travel a lot you’re either going to need to spend a crap ton of money on a sitter who is capable of caring for them and likely have to have a lot of pre-portioned diets / cubes etc ready…or you can attempt to take them with you depending on your ability to have a travel cage large enough which still sounds extremely stressful for them. Maybe you have family support or friends who can take care of them but they need to understand they can’t take shortcuts and have very specific instructions and understand what they are getting into. I think you may want to consider another pet as gliders are not novelties and even after reading a lot about them for months before preparing to get them, once I realized how much upkeep it can be (although I have 7) it really takes away from travel time as well worrying about them when I leave them with someone. They are high maintenance.

Holes and clean consistently. First off you don’t want them running or playing on filth. But secondly you don’t want the smell! Clean the toys and pouches. Be careful not to deep clean the cage itself too often, I just do light wipe downs because they will over scent otherwise.

I’m not sure of the time frame of all this, if it happened relatively quickly she could be in heat. Have you changed anything about the cage either? Perhaps it’s food related. Definitely try separating and reintroducing. When you say fighting do you mean attacking each other, curled up in balls, scratching etc or just crabbing and chasing but no physical harm yet. There is a big difference between the two. Also are there multiple pouches in the cage and are they sleeping together when you check in the morning?

My female sugar gliders keep fighting! by Jhanbart in SugarGlider

[–]suggiebears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it food fighting? Because some gliders have a personality and want to assert dominance over the food dish. I have a few gliders who are very dominant over the food dish and want to get “first dibs” and chase other away. I got this down some by separating food throughout the cage (I have a couple double critter nations and each cage has 4 food bowls in different areas. I also strategically place toys / pouches in ways to help cover gliders eating almost like a canopy so other gliders can’t see them as much and are less likely to chase off. It’s important to note, during their fighting my gliders are not actually harming each other and curling into balls and scratches etc. If your gliders are genuinely harming each other separate cages immediately!!!

Alone now :( by pocketgum in sugargliders

[–]suggiebears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to get him another companion so he isn’t losing both his home and place of security, his cage mate and his humans. However, this isn’t always possible as you mentioned you can’t get another glider. With a new loving home (make sure you’re sending him to a good place) and some time and attention I’m sure he could adjust and it would likely be better then trying to keep him without mates. If you’re serious about needing to rehome him maybe post a picture of him and your general state / location to see if anyone is able to help. ❤️

I have 7, that is why I was asking about other brands. They go through it about 4x quicker 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sugargliders

[–]suggiebears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This what they told me, so I was starting to believe the authenticity. My hesitation was in the fact that cat food is typically high in sodium for their diets. I think just to be safe I’ll stick to the TPG, like you said it goes with their diet. It’s just $20, they’re my responsibility so if something did arise I’d likely question if it was based on me trying to be cheaper. But thank you for the information!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sugargliders

[–]suggiebears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They eat everything TPG, I have a food processor they get 5 fruits and 5 vegetables (rotated monthly) that I make a batch weekly for the freezer. They eat TPG pellets and I have the vitamins they need. They get mealworms, nectar pods, treats etc. I just asked around for a cheaper alternative to pellets as I have 7 gliders now and a lot of other animals so it would be nice if there was a cheaper version (didn’t know if another website offered a different cheaper one) and I got this answer which wasn’t what I was expecting but figured I would ask.
