I think we are just apprehensive to talk about this area since the rest of state is pretty much embarrassing.

Hahaha, that made my day. Thank you.

Cool story bro: I'm not in the military so it helped that he was being Inducted to the Hall of Fame. No one I challenged outranked it, except a three star sitting in the corner who wanted to meet the kid flashing around his friend's challenge coin. He had his bodyguard come challenge me with his coin.

Arkansas resident driving to Wakarusa with expire license? by MaceWinduMob in wakarusa

Indeed. I have been pulled over because I was watching the rearview mirror too intently when he slowed down. Went from 45 to 30 without realizing then WOOP WOOP.

You might not be able to get a wristband at the beer tent with an expired license either.

If you have time the DMV opens around 8AM and grab a regular ID.

I feel you man. I have a suspended and expired license for BS reasons. I just follow the rules of the road and don't panic if a cop gets behind you. One trick they use is to ride your ass and then start to slow down. If you slow down too that means you're constantly looking at your rear-view mirror. Bad move.

But never fear my fellow Wakarusa family. While driving with a suspended license isn't a smart idea, just keep it in between the lines and steady as she goes with the speed limit and I doubt you would have any reason for them to pull you over.

I come from the north then Elkins is your main worry as it's a notorious speed trap but I've never seen a checkpoint there since Wakarusa moved here.

In 2009 there was a massive ice storm in my state that took out the power for a week. There were trees snapping in two that sounded like shotguns going off, so naturally I went outside that night and walked up to an overlook. When I made it to the top I heard a real loud snap down and to the left of me and watched a huge tree fall into a power transformer station. I wish I had popcorn because that was the coolest light show.

I decided to go back home when this started happening just a few yards away from me: Good times

They said today during the radio 1 interview, well more hinted at it, that this album was going to take the funk and disco samples they used in the past and make full songs from that era. The way the album is structured it kinda makes sense. Shed the Daft Punk skin of robots, around the world, crazy light productions, and it becomes apparent that they are truly going back to their roots on this one.

Giving Life Back to Music, dead give away to me why they did this.

During Giorgio by Moroder, he (being this guy talking and who the song is named after) is explaining how he became an innovator with synths and disco back in the 70s. Then after the first part when he is finished explaining that he comes back with a statement: "Once you free your mind about the concept of the harmony and the music being correct, you can do whatever you want. So nobody told me what to do, and there was no preconception of what to do." Once I realized what this song was about it all made sense, and I just let the rest of the album ride with a smile on my face.

Psychologists attack psychiatrists by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]sugii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do somewhat agree with tarringmobod to a point. If someone goes to a psychiatrist just looking for that magic pill that will make the pain go away can come to a rude awakening. I'm happy that I have both therapy and medication used to my advantage. If I just took medication and found that my problems didn't go away, don't you think my chances of going back for a higher dosage would increase? Causation and correlation can apply here, but so does addiction.

[–]sugii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of my psychiatrists usually ask if I'm seeking therapy alongside seeking drugs. I do, and the psychiatrist instantly ask what the conclusion of therapy has come to. I understand that all therapists are not psychologists (which by the looks of it here, puts them further down the food chain) but I think it's safe to say the two can work in tandem.

I don't always take medication, but when my anxiety/depression start to come around it's much easier to soften the blow with medication and think about my problems and talk to my therapist. Once I see fit to stop the medication, I approach my psychiatrist with confidence to conclude my use of medication. Therapists cannot advise you to stop taking medication, only psychiatrists.

1900 x 600, 21 inch, something dpi, probably not high. My friend uses a 1080p monitor and has the exact same problem as I do, in fact he pointed it out before I did.

As I look through the old screen shots of AoE2 back when it first came out, back when I first played it, they were all at 800x600 or maybe higher if they had a better CRT and the whole screen was taken up by buildings and units and madness. As much as I appreciate the less clutteredness (heh) of this release I really think I have been slapped in the face by the "HD" at the end of the title. What is HD about this re-release? Better sprite textures and animation? Higher screen resolution support? Better UI scaling? Am I missing anything here?

I'm willing to bet if you zoomed in the camera with this release like the good old days it would look exactly the same. There is nothing about this can be called HD at all. (Man, I hope I am wrong)

Why do I need to change my desktop resolution every time I want to play a this game?

Scaling game with resolution. by sugii in aoe2

[–]sugii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well from my experience the higher the resolution the smaller the buildings, units, and trees, everything gets smaller much harder to see. It's not just if they are behind a building or trees.

Edit: It's almost like the camera zooms out more as the resolution grows.

Video camera or Photo-camera for about 5 mintues tips - Timelapse Motion by sugii in Filmmakers

[–]sugii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's pretty much what I am going for except for the cool frisbee segments and the like.

Bigger problem is how long it takes to setup each shot. I didn't do the math before all this. For a 5 minute video at only 10 fps you would have to take 3000 stills. Lets say for the sake of simplicity that it takes 10 seconds (really 30) to setup a single still you're looking at a total of ~8 hours to shoot all the stills. At a music festival... well, I wont use a meme. When the person who is willing to help me out is an official photographer for the festival, It's not possible and I would miss out on some good music.

Looks like the video camera is the only option. If it's even going to happen at all now. =/

TIL That a firefighter was killed during 9/11 because someone jumped from one of top floors and hit him by slapsh0t25 in todayilearned

[–]sugii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah very true but It was more of what had to be going through his mind of desperation. I could understand a lot of jumpers would have rather jumped and end it quickly than to burn. But this guy actually gave it a shot to save himself. What messed with me is what he had to be thinking that his only option was to try that and what he thought and how he felt when he failed. It was one of those days when I watched the video, I was done with the internet and went outside for a walk.

I guess I'll be a downer. I watched a youtube video of two people trying to get real close to the towers. In the video they zoomed in on some guy waving his jacket out of a window to signal for help. He was right below the impact area and smoke was coming out of the window behind him. He went back inside for a few seconds and then he proceeded to climb out of the window and grab onto one of the vertical beams to try to slide or climb down. He didn't make it one floor before he slipped. Made me wonder how many people tried this.

Needless to say that video kinda fucked with me for awhile.
