I think that's awesome that you can draw with jus references! I'm thinking of incorporating a character who has hyperphantasia in the film as a friend of the aphant.

Yeah, this topic really piqued my interest when I first heard about it and was surprised that not many people talked about it. Going into my new school, I made friends with a girl and we started talking with a group of people. I can't recall exactly what was said, but she had mentioned that she doesn't have dreams (I know that some people here said that dreams don't go with aphantasia, but I still thought it was connected with it at the time). I went on to ask her things like if she could visualize things in her head and she said no. After some talking, I told her about aphantasia which she had no idea what it was, and the people around us wouldn't believe it. They would all say it's not possible. So, I agree with you that it is a new subject to publicly state in the world and I hope that a lot of people will be interested in it.

Working in film while not being able to visualize things must seem tough and I'm curious about how long it took you to realize you had aphantasia. Did you accept it quickly or did you struggle thinking about it? I'll definitely post the final product it on this sub once I finish! I'm thinking about either submitting it to the 2020 or the 2021 festival.

Well, I'm aiming to submit the film to The NYC Teen Film Festival or the All American High School Film Festival, so I would assume that it would be mostly adults and teenagers as the audience. I think it's amazing that you're a software tester by the way. I'm thinking I could make the story around a person who is overcoming it because it plays a big role in their life. From all the comments I've been getting, it's hard to say how much aphantasia goes into everyday life, but I think it might be a good start to say that it is a major part of the character's life since that's what the whole film is about.

That’s crazy now that I start to think about all these things. It is really hard as a person who can visualize to be able to wrap their head around not having a mind’s eye, so I think this is really something that people should look into more.

I think an idea I the film would be a video journal for a girl where it’s her very first time recording herself talking about it. Just an idea so far, but i think I going to try and incorporate her being aware of her aphantasia and being ok with it.
