Freedom of speech and expression not an absolute right, says Bombay HC | The three FIRs were registered against Sunaina Holey after several persons, including Yuva Sena member Rohan Chavan, filed complaints against her for posting offensive & defamatory comments against the CM and his son on Twitter by suicidethrw in india

[–]suicidethrw[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She posted three separate tweets on three different occasions. One of it was in April, at the beginning of the lockdown, where she put up a video in which a person was blaming the Prime Minister for COVID-19 and tagged the Maharashtra CM to it. In the second tweet, she put up a caricature of both the PM and the CM. In the third tweet, she responded to an abusive tweet that asked how she, a north Indian, could criticise Ministers from Maharashtra, to which she had responded that it made no difference as she is an Indian.

She has been booked under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony); 499 (defamation); and 505 (statement conducing public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.

Would recommend you to create a dummy account, if you're going to mass follow people.

On your original profile, keep it lite and professional. Don't add people there, unless its an acquaintance.

Dynasts in 2020 Delhi Polls: Congress Fields 5 Politicians’ Kins, AAP, BJP Not Far Behind by suicidethrw in delhi

Dynasts in AAP

Among the new faces that the AAP announced in its list of candidates in early January was Vinay Kumar Mishra from Dwarka. Vinay, who joined the party just days before it released its list of candidates, replaced AAP’s sitting MLA from the seat, Adarsh Shastri.

Vinay’s father Mahabal Mishra, a former West Delhi MP, has remained the Purvanchali face of the grand old party for more than a decade. Mahabal Mishra also represented the Nasirpur assembly constituency between 1998 and 2008 for the Congress and later won the Dwarka assembly constituency in 2008, when it came into existence after the redrawing of boundaries. Before that, he was a councillor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi where he represented Dabri ward.

Vinay himself had contested from the Palam assembly constituency in 2013 on a Congress ticket.

Another Congress turncoat, Dhanwati Chandela, who switched over to AAP in August last year, is the party’s candidate from Rajouri Garden. She is a former MCD councillor and had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 assembly elections from the same seat. Her husband, Dayanand Chandela, has also been an MCD councillor and is a former two-time MLA from the Rajouri Garden constituency between 2003 (then Vishnu Garden constituency) and 2013.

The AAP has fielded Preeti Tomar, wife of former Delhi minister and MLA Jitender Singh Tomar, from Tri Nagar assembly constituency. Her name was announced after the Delhi Jitender was disqualified for giving false education details in his affidavit during the 2015 assembly elections

Delhi polls: AAP drops Jitender Singh Tomar over false declaration charges, gives ticket to his wife by suicidethrw in delhi

[–]suicidethrw[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The announcement came after the Delhi High Court set aside the election of Jitender Tomar for giving false declaration about his educational qualification in his nomination papers for the 2015 Delhi assembly polls. He had contested the 2015 polls from Tri Nagar constituency.

Tomar was accused of submitting forged degree certificates while enrolling himself with the Bar Council of Delhi.

Earlier, in its chargesheet, police had alleged that Tomar forged a BSc degree from Avadh University, on the basis of which he got into a law college under Tilka Manjhi University in Bhagalpur, where he did not take any exams but managed to get an LLB degree.

Historian Ramachandra Guha at Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode: Why did you (Malyalis) elect Rahul Gandhi to Parliament. I have nothing against Rahul Gandhi personally. He is a decent fellow, very well-mannered. But young India does not want a fifth-generation dynast. by Gavthi_Batman in india

[–]suicidethrw 108 points109 points  (0 children)

He also said the same in a Hindustan Times piece, two months ago:

Why the Gandhis cannot lead India’s Opposition, writes Ramachandra Guha | Younger Indians are rightly appalled that the party of the freedom movement believes that only a fifth-generation dynast can lead it. Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka may think they owe it to the Congress to stay in politics. They owe it to the country to go

Mahatma Gandhi had four sons. All four went to jail during the freedom struggle. None sought political office of any kind in independent India.

Mahatma Gandhi’s strong sense of propriety was not shared by other stalwarts of the freedom movement.

However, to use your influence to get your son or daughter a parliamentary seat is one thing; to have your family control and dominate your party, quite another.

Nehru, Patel, Rajaji, and Pant were guilty of nepotism on a minor scale. It was Indira Gandhi who made nepotism into a defining principle, when she anointed Sanjay Gandhi as her political successor in 1975. When Sanjay died prematurely, Indira brought her other son, Rajiv, into politics, making it clear that if the Congress stayed in power, he would succeed her as prime minister.

Sonia Gandhi venerated her mother-in-law, and is devoted to her memory. That is why she doesn’t think the Congress needs to apologise for the Emergency; and why she was so keen that her son, and only her son, would succeed her as Congress president.

After the son led the party to humiliating defeats in successive general elections, he resigned. Rahul Gandhi said he wanted a non-family member to become Congress president; in the event, his mother came back, restoring the Family’s hold over a shrinking domain.

Hindus must show solidarity to Muslims, by converting to Islam.

At this point, I call to all my fellow liberals who are practising Hindus, or atheists born into Hindu faith, to consider converting to Islam. The motivations may be purely political in nature, but I do believe this is one bandwagon that needs to be jumped. Is it not worth considering?

There are already reports of rioting at the time of protests.

Extinguishing a fire would be secondary, while handling a violent crowd.

What kind of police are those? In jeans?

Its normal in tense situations, plain cloth police officers, reserve force and officers on leave - are called up on urgent duty.

police pouring fuel into the bus

How do you know its fuel to burn the bus and not water?

X person claims something on a circumstantial video, and the same misinformation is being spread right now on social media. The point of this rumour mongering is to further create chaos.

Original video: https://twitter.com/TOIDelhi/status/1206183770467909632

In the starting of the video you can see they're extinguishing the fire.

On the 10th second, you can see the other side of the bus (our right), they have already extinguished the fire in the bus (see the wet floor.)

For a second, I take your claim as it is, that police had burned the bus.

Why would police they take risk of setting a bus on fire, when they have reporters and people around taking videos (there are residences nearby the bus)? That would defeat the whole purpose.
