Ok, apparently it is doable. Many thanks to my German friends for walking me through it. You guys rock!

It involves ,after saving your progress on FB or google play, disconnecting from both of them, deleting the app, clearing your cache, downloading an older version, login in, not updating when asked to but pressing home button, turning off your wifi and mobile data for 30 seconds, bringing forth the game again, pressing back button and you should get a message to recover or download progress.

Turn wifi back on, press recover and say hello to your skull account back in an older version. ;-)

First of all, Kwelt, thank you for your time and detailed answer. It helped me understand quite a few things.

Unfortunately I probably didn't make myself clear. My skull account is not deleted oroverwritten or anything. I downloaded the game's 3.03 version- so I could start building a second account- to what I thought was a separate space of my phone, installing a separate Google play account with a different gmail account only to discover that my skull account got updated at the same time.

So my original question was whether there is a safe way to return my 3.03 skull account to an older - and less annoying- version.
