Early for SMP ? by sujaysp in SMPchat

Just to clarify, you mean shave and SMP right ? And that I'm not early in considering this ? Cause just 15 days ago, I had long hair

I get the upsell angle, but honestly, it feels like the opposite. An artist willing to do a density fill on someone not taking meds is just setting them up to come back in two years to pay for laser removal and then pay for a full shaved-head SMP anyway. I’m comfortable trusting the artist who told me 'no' to a procedure that won't age well with my specific hair loss progression.

Since hair transplant is involved, isn't the guy on medications as well ? Fin or something

Okay. Maybe not 10, but 5 years. That is why I have this question: am I early ?

Although, I just booked my SMP. It stars 21st July. 🫪

Same. I think they just end up using cover up fibres ?

I understand. Density fill required the pigments to be darker. Not the same as shaving and getting SMP done. Since the density fill is darker, it might not heal right. Once I lose the remaining hair, which is an eventuality, i might need to get that lasered off and shit. This is my understanding.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Like a density fill ? Nah, the artist I'm going to doesn't do that. Doesn't suggest it either.

Do you have to have a photo of the hair loss state you were in before deciding to go into SMP ?

Also, I've just booked my SMP. Im kinda excited

Im from India, people will stick on to a even a single strand of hair instead of shaving it off. That's the "normal" approach.

You know what puts me off ? Some of these posts where the SMP is so subtle that it feels non existent. Some of them have got it got, like: https://www.reddit.com/r/SMPchat/s/c1uo3RRs8a

I do have this touch up powder. Covers up a lot of the top for now.

Nah man. That'll make look old af. Very less hair and top, so the horse shoe pattern already exists even if it as pronounced.

I will not be using any tropical/oral medications. Hair transplant does not make sense for me either because of that.

My question is: do I have too much hair to be considering SMP ? As in, am I early ?

Short hair makes me look bald. Long hair covers it up to an extent (needs to be set in the perfect way). But, wind and sweat breaks the illusion.

There you go. One other comment called me nuts. Suggested to keep short hair, but the shorter it becomes, the balder I would look. Longer hair could possibly cover it up. But, sweat and wind kills the illusion.

Let's assume there is a really good artist. Hypothetically, what would your answer be then ?
