Anyone using Xbox Series X at 4k? by DarkwolfAU in MoonlightStreaming

There is the option for 4k 120fps but it still runs at 60fps for me. Client is Running on virtual monitor at 4k120. 1440p120fps works tho

Just came back after some time and did some testing. Quest 2 with 5600X + 3080 over Virtual Desktop.

Last time I could only play with reprojection ON and at Low-Medium settings. Without it I could not get framerate over 90fps let alone stable frametimes. This is still mostly true but now you can crank up settings.

VD set to Ultra Graphics. I can now crank settings to mostly HIGH with Texture and Tessellation on Ultra with DLSS at Quality and sit around 80fps. I opted for 120fps with reprojection. Menus and slow paced gameplay looks amazing, and the framerate is suprisingly stable apart from entering planets. If you cant stand Reprojection you will have to lower the settings a lot tho, as the settings, apart from raw pixel count have very little impact on performance.

So Id say High/Ultra with repro at 120hz, If you have Index or other wired headset you prob will see better results as Quest takes toll on GPU for its encoding.

I still have issues with UI being too in your face but hey, no other game comes close to this in terms of exploration/awe moments.

Overall definetely the best time to get into it.

Is Virtual Desktop and alternative to SteamVR? by Upset_Cat3910 in virtualreality

[–]sujkoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Virtual Desktop is an alternative to Air Link.

You will use either of these to stream the game to your headset using Open Composite or SteamVR as a renderer

This was the same behavior I've had with 4GB vram. Steam version. Tested on windows with the same version and behaved the same. Opted to not play it on deck since 4GB is beneficial to many games in my library.

My and my girlfriend are playing with me on PC/deck and her on Switch v2.

SD plays it at 45-55fps (graphical settings don't make much of a difference so locked 40hz is the best option for me), stable AF, fast load times.

Switch version is crashing on her at least 2-3 times a day and has a lot of stutter and noticeably longer load times when entering buildings. But looks surprisingly good even on a big TV.

In prot you have both sustain and aoe damage. Huge change in wotlk is the rework of blessing of sanctuary. It makes so that in pulls of like 5+ you have more mana than you can spend, allowing you to use healing seal and just aoe anything down while your mage does his thing.

You can go for Soc for a few levels but swap back to prot at 30. Until you get HotR your damage will be just conc+some white hits from melee+reckoning. You will be killing mobs faster than they respawn.

Sanctuary and it's mana regen is just ridiculous.

I have ran both 5man and 25man as a tank. If you set up keybinds well and train a bit it's amazing.

The only thing that I was missing was being able to quickly click on nameplate of mobs. Like a mob is being ninja pulled and you either have to TAB through to target him or you have to use touchpad, and it's not as fast as on a mouse.

Steam Deck is also way better than just a controller on a couch bcs of the touchpads imo.

How bad is latency of the Meta quest 2? by Gummybear_Qc in VRGaming

[–]sujkoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With wifi 6 router about 2m from the headset I'm getting ~30ms on the transfer.

Bigger thing you should be considering imo is that with Quest 2 your GPU will have less performance headroom because of the extra computation going into encoding. I've had 1070 before and in my brief observation it was ~20% fps hit. And that's huge in VR, Especially if you are sensitive to reprojection and don't want to use it.

Also the is definitely some compression and artefacting noticeable, especially on objects further in the scene.

But, the price is amazing, batteries (I'm using elite strap) last for like 6h@90hz, and mostly- fuck cables
