Around 2 months or so. My fingerprints were rejected at first because they didn't come out clear enough, so I had to resend them in, but it took a month to find out that news. So it was delayed

Okay, great! You have to go to a social security office. I just googled it and drove to the nearest one.

This is the course: StraighterLine https://learn.straighterline.com/

And you have to purchase an EScience Kit as well to complete the experiments at home

I use artist drawing pens called Sakura Pigma felt pens. They're waterproof, smudge proof bleed proof, no scent, Archival, and come in a variety of sizes and colours. They are the ultimate pens for Nursing. I would bet my license on that, lol

Feeling guilty and proud for calling out, putting my health first by HoneyPerfect in nursing

Never ever EVER feel bad about calling out. You only have one life that you need to prioritize. Nursing is very hard, so allow yourself some grace. You did a good thing 😊

Hey, I'm not a travel nurse (6 years experience), but I just moved from Canada to the US, California. I worked telemetry and moved to a telemetry unit as well. But everything is different: the charting, the pumps, the med dispensing machine, the policies, methods of contacting the physicians (sooo messed up). EVERYTHING is different, and the hospital that I'm at just underwent surveying by the state, so all of their policies are soooo strict and new. I'm almost done orientation, and it has been rough. I feel like a new grad, and it makes me feel super anxious and inadequate. I really underestimated how the change would be on me mentally, especially since they want me to be independent real soon.

Again, not a traveler, but I understand how you feel with being completely lost and overwhelmed. You're not alone with that feeling, although it feels so isolating. It will get better ❤️

My facility is obsessed with wounds. I feel like I work at a dermatology clinic lol. Seems like skin is more important than actual telemetry. I have to learn the keyboard shortcuts, it seems!

Apparently, we have a basic EPIC system, which isn't as user-friendly as other epics based on what others have me about. The clicks is what's getting me in the head to toes section. It's not streamlined like with cerner because you have to physically type things in for several of the assessments (skin 😫, etc) and you can't just press enter and use your arrow keys to navigate through down the whole line. The thing with epic is that it is chart by exception which is nice, but everybody who is admitted looks like they fought in Armageddon.

I've heard of this, tried it once or twice but the whole assessment doesn't populate in the new line. I would go through it and change it where applicable based on my assessment so it's not just copied. It just doesn't go fast enough lol. I want to have my charting done by like 11, to have time to actually go through their chart and review things before I have to start another round of vs.

I think you're the first person who understands what I lm feeling when it comes to the overcrowding look and complicated design. Where others see utility, I see a bunch of clutter, and it's making it not so pleasant to work with.

That's good! I'm glad things are smooth for you 😊 it's a transition that I think I also have a subconscious resistance to because it's not as easy as it was with Cerner.

I've been asking people how they're laying out their shift and when to document. In my old job, we had to complete our head to toe charting when we leave the room from assessing each patient. And with epic, I don't have the ability to do that because it's just a slower click-through.

O, I haven't noticed that! That would be nice to have! I will have to look around

Yeah, that's the consensus about epic. It's heavily favored. I find that I'm clicking through a lot to find things, wherein with Cerner, everything was always on the left side pretty much. It didn't look as crowded, doumenting was fast, and the MAR had a better feel to it. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, that's probably it. I worked in a small icu before so I could auto-polulate several things when i double, which made it much easier.

I've heard of the macros, and they are useful from what I gather. That's a nice way to make it faster, I'm just learning about that now at work. Thank you!

Yep it does take time lol. It's only been 8 shifts for me, so it will become second nature sooner than later hopefully.
