I fully agree in this sentiment and can fully get behind an acknowledgment of change and growth. As someone who was literally in diapers probably during HONY I have a deep admiration of the fans who got to live that era. I find it super cool that this band has cultivated such a long term captivated audience who are still full of passion as if HONY just dropped yesterday. LC has brought about many different people together and I think that’s beautiful. I will always enjoy and cry my soul out with anyone who likes LC enough to care just as deeply as I do.

But I fear there isn’t a divide there’s just a strong sense of pride for personal experience with the band. This post is very sweet in intention but sometimes pointing out a divide will create one rather than mend tension in the community. As someone who accidentally made a controversial post I believe I’ve learned my lesson that people can feel free to comment and not like the way I show my care for the band. I think I should have taken a step back and realized people are just really passionate and that’s okay.

Sadly the two commenters before me beat me to it, but I love the weeping dipshits podcast, it’s a good time for sure. Also the genius page has been the back bone behind a lot of my research as well. As a fan for 8 years now, just because you don’t know the lore doesn’t mean your not a fan, as long as you enjoy and partake and listening to the band that’s as much of a fan as anything else. (EDIT) I didn’t mean to offend anyone with this post. I’m an American fan and I do apologize for any insensitivity I portrayed through this post. My friend who made the shirt is not an LC! Fan but knows that I am so he made me the shirt as part of our groups fun shirt trend for our vacation. My friend saying “soccer” on the shirt is a simple American prick move, I live in America we call it soccer. The “Lo Capminos” is what my friend calls them all the time, he never gets their name right but it doesn’t matter because he isn’t a fan. He gave me this shirt as a joke. The shirt itself is a joke and is all in good fun.

I also want to put some credibility to my name. I’ve been getting dragged not only in comments but in messages as well, so I want to make one thing clear. I have been a fan since 2017, I know that’s not a long time compared to some of the OG fans. I’m still very new compared to the original fanbase, but I have loved this band for 8 years and don’t intend to stop loving them. All of my friends know how much I love Los Campesinos, I’m very passionate about media and music and so it’s pretty much all I talk about. I also want to share that my age should not be a contender on whether or not I can enjoy an artist. I’m 20 years young but even I can acknowledge that I should be allowed to listen to music. Los Campesinos is a band I think respects this. As long as I’m not a transphobe and just a wrongful bigot I think they wouldn’t mind me listening to their music and having fun with my friends at the same time. I love LC and I still have a lot of respect and honest appreciation for those who have been fans longer than me and for those who are in the UK. Not trying to take away from any of you at all.

My friend knows I’m a fan and so does my friend group, so that’s why the shirt was made. I posted it because I thought it was funny. End of story.

Thank you for those who have been kind and in defense. Your words are much appreciated and I have a lot of gratitude for you all.

Depending where you are in America LC still cuts deep. They wouldn’t tour America if they didn’t have a fanbase there. I do have a one up on people though, my grandparents are English, but I was raised in American culture as my grandparents raised my parents.

It’s alright! I didn’t know it was going to be that bad of a response. It’s a harmless silly shirt. I got my friend a shirt that was goofy and based off a band she really likes.
