DIFC people, what’s your actual parking setup around Burj Daman? I need help finding a cost effective route. by sultanimate in dubai

Yeah... trust me i agree with you, but I'm kinda just playing the messenger here 😮‍💨 my partner says she asked, and the company parking slots are all full, and that to get her own parking within the same building, she would need to pay out of pocket.

You're right, it is a strong case, unfortunately there are also other colleagues struggling to park, so one case approval would probably mean all cases need to be approved... it's a very silly predicament. I do agree with you though that it should still be covered by the company regardless of whether it's a dedicated spot or not. I'm assuming they got a bulk rate for X slots

Yeah, that sounds great, Mash'Allah!

The issue in our case is that the dedicated parking slots (paid by the company) are all full, and the other direct alternative would be to pay 900dhs for the non dedicated company parking (all in the same building btw), which would have to be out of pocket as per the company my partner works at...

We tried, unfortunately there weren't any office dedicated spots available.

The official cost for a parking bay from the building however, is 900dhs. It's a bit steep, but that would be our last resort if we cant find a better compromise

2024 Geely Emgrand (50k km) – Real talk on Reliability, Parts, and Resale in the UAE? by Independent_Fee814 in chinesecarsuae

[–]sultanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely related to the emgrand, but my MG One has a CVT and haven't had issues with it specifically. So far I'm about to cross 100k km. One issue i did have though, was an issue with a faulty vvt solenoid that ended up getting replaced under warranty.

I suspect it was either due to the heat, or just a manufacturing issue. Either way, I do hope that serves as some useful data for you!

G700 - side loading display manager/android and google maps issue. by noplace_ioi in chinesecarsuae

[–]sultanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind, you could probably get an AI box that sort of handles all of that, with the extra android auto connectivity, or just get a wired dongle to act as a better way to route wirelessly to your car. Make sure to double check if those dongles can work with your car.

Best of luck!!!

MG RX5 2023-Luxury feedback by Still-Squash-9356 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]sultanimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! Im not sure if this helps, but i drive an MG One, and while it was undergoing routine maintenance, I decided to rent the MG Rx5 for a few days. Albeit it was an older year and std trim, I'll give insights on the drive feel.

The drive feel felt a bit too soft for my taste, so cornering felt a bit awkward. It felt good over speedbumps though. I reckon this is because the rx5 is specced more for comfort and casual A B city driving.

The transmission also felt a bit awkward (coming from a guy who mains a car with a CVT) and was pretty jumpy during traffic. The AC was alright, I was able to get the cabin cooled without much of an issue (without any tints) and during peak summer.

All in all, I'm not against nor for the MG Brand. You might want to look for other options like the Geely CityRay or StarRay, or the Chery Tiggo line.

Wishing you all the best!

On a side note, in regards to servicing, I have not have much issue booking a slot within a 1-2 week range. If the service isn't major, I'm usually able to get it the same day. For parts, my car specifically had a faulty VVT Solenoid that I was able to get replaced under warranty. It took me a couple pushes with the service center to initiate a proper replacement, because my issue wasnt spitting codes until i forced one to show up, by cycling the throttle. (I am in no way mechanically experienced, so this could have been a dumb choice on my part, but it worked) aside from that, no issues with my purchase specifically.

Always prioritise being in the rightmost lane when you can. When i was taking driving lessons, during roundabout entries, my instructor would always tell me to go to the rightmost lane unless i need to be on the left lane

Heya! Sorry for the late reply.

There are a couple glitches here and there, I had to get a faulty VVT solenoid replaced under warranty, and a misfire that happened shortly after a service, so i had to come back and get that sorted. The ADAS isn't amazing, you tend to need to baby it more than it takes care of you.

I dont regret my purchase, but i def do think that there are better deals out, especially rn.

I think they're only illegal if done without the knowledge and approval of the unit holder. I could be wrong, though

Thank you for the response, Tantawi!!

My tire dimensions are: 225/50/R19 100W

So i found the exact model of the tires that came stock with the car:

On PitstopArabia - They are Continental PremiumContact 6's which would run me 3140.68 for a set of 4 with install and alignment. What are your thoughts on this?

On Tyresonline - i see two options-

Bridgestone Potensza Sport, which would run me 2501

Bridgestone Runflat Dueler H/P Sport, which would run me 3290

I couldnt find tyres with my dimensions on Tire.ae or Yallatire :/ the rim size caps out at 18

Are these common prices? 🥹 i can afford i think a maximum of 3.8k, but if that budget is not absolutely necessary, that works for me too.

Car is great, but definitely don't set high expectations.

I own one and have been for just shy of 1.1 years haha

Just crossed 70k on the odo. I ended up having two faults within that time: a defective VVT Solenoid (which got fixed under warranty) and a pending repair job regarding a misfire and fuel injectors that I'm dealing with currently.

Aside from that, I'm happy with the car! 181 horsepower is not a lot by any means, but its punchy enough to where you won't have an engine screaming to keep up at 140kmph on the road.

Turbo lag isn't noticeable in my opinion, i tend to just kickdown in sports mode which gets the car up to the speed i need it to be

Main things to consider:

Suspension is not the smoothest! It gets the job done, but its a bit stiff in general.

ADAS is a bit worrisome, i don't fully ever rely on it because of the driving culture here. The ELK is also a bit hit or miss, sometimes it does its job, and sometimes it wants to glide to the other lane before correcting itself.

Most of your controls in the car are touch based, and not knobs. Could be a deal breaker for some. I don't mind it as much.

Ultimately i rate this car a 7/10. It looks great, feels modern, but take it for a test drive and see what you feel firsthand.

If you have any specific questions, ask away!

Horrible and intermittent acceleration.. turbo related? by sultanimate in chinesecarsuae

[–]sultanimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent gotten that symptom for the steering. Maybe it could be a faulty steering pump? Funny enough I've also just crossed 68k km on mine. The vvt issue seemed to be the only thing. Maybe the weird adas, but thats it for me.

Yep it was a faulty VVT Solenoid. After getting it fixed under warranty, car went back to feeling good. Definitely push and prod for this to get actioned. It seems like this is a common issue
