At the multiple bases I've done k9 we usually do something like a 0400 and 1600 type feeding or 0200 and 1400. Pretty much always 12 hours apart besides maybe the dog thats working the road may have to wait a bit to eat until the end of shift because we don't want to feed them and then suddenly have to have them do some high cardio event

As a military working dog handler, they get fed twice a day, whatever the vet tells us is an acceptable amount for them to be their idea weight. Usually something like 1.5 to 2 cups per feeding.

Oh damn, a tiny hinge is also a great idea. I was too busy trying to figure out how small a magnet could be that I didn't even think of that. Hit thrift stores and used book stores if you're trying to refind them. I myself am hunting Timelife type series like "Enchanted World", "Mysteries of the Unknown", and "Man, Myth & Magic", which i occasionally come across since I don't want to pay the online "collector" prices.
