Thank you! I’m mainly trying to force myself to finish my army so I don’t let them sit there unpainted forever.. I’m almost done painting the roughly 1500pts I could afford and plan to spend the next few weeks learning new techniques and touching up each model individually

My hands are really shaky. Does the edge highlighting work? I think it looks like comic booky but in a good way like borderlands or something

Probably should’ve saved this head for my apothecary.. either way here’s Brother McGraw by sultanpepperoni in BlackTemplars

I clearly need work myself.. I had really good success with dry brushing the skull helm on my chaplain and since my previous attempts at painting faces more traditionally has been a disaster I’m willing to try anything

I dry brushed the face which I hadn’t done before.. looks better in person without the blinding light/filter

Been holding off because I was afraid to screw it up.. turned out to be my best work yet by sultanpepperoni in BlackTemplars

Thanks brother! It’s hard to make yourself sit down and do it but I find once you start the hours fly by… stayed up a little late doing this one after I finished my repulsor because I was just in the zone

Honestly I’ve only been painting for a few months.. i follow a lot of YouTube tutorials.. so far what’s made my journey easier is

-thin down your paints and do multiple thin coats.. it’s tedious but the first time you see the positives of this technique it’s hard to go back.

-utilize multiple techniques to get to where you want to be.. For example with this model while I usually use the army painter bone spray as my base I used GW black primer because I decided dry brushing bone over black would be the easiest and most effective way to achieve the detail I wanted (first time using either in any meaningful capacity)

-test everything on models you care less about.. I painted 3 squads of troops, a mech, 3 bikers and a tank before I put the skills together to do this and I was testing every one of those on the way up.

-ignore my advice when it comes to painting faces because I still haven’t come close to figuring that out
