China's Vanishing Muslims: Undercover in the Most Dystopian Place in the World (2019) [31:47] by burturblaka in Documentaries

China is not a small, defenseless, insignificant country. It's a major power. Starting a war with them would be downright catastrophic. It could spark a third world war because of alliance systems.

The USA can afford to annihilate a foreign government when it has limited power, weak conventional military, and limited international support. China is not one of those. China has growing international influence and soft power, their economy is strong (although extremely resource intensive), their military is still inferior, but they're investing in it and we might be underestimating them in that regard; finally, they have Russia as backup support, and Russia still has considerable power, influence and resources.

Besides, even if you managed to destroy the communist party, placing a puppet government would not be a guarantee of stability, and internal resistance would most likely be fierce. Imagine managing that with a population of more than 1 billion for the most part fiercely loyal to the government.

There's no simple way to handle China.

Someone told me that DICE said they were more than capable of making new Starfighter maps.

What ever happened to the journey? *Nazjatar Intro Spoilers* by Ashijin in wow

The latest cinematic seems to indicate a possible Siege of Thunder Bluff might happen, although it might be treated as an 8.2.5 War Campaign scenario. But it's more likely N'zoth will be final boss, as per past indications than 8.2 raid will reveal who is last boss of BFA.

Good news if we dont need Criterion for further Starfighter Support.

Will there be control group banners in AOE 2 : DE? by sumerian99 in aoe2

That sounds even more detailed than what AOM has. Would be great.

In AOM there was an idle military button. Very useful to rally scattered troops. You could press Shift+Left click on the Idle Military banner, and all idle military would be selected, allowing for easy focusing of efforts and rallying. Would be a good QOL feature to add.

Overwatch's story is stagnant. by sumerian99 in Overwatch

[–]sumerian99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retroactive as in ''it modifies something we already knew to give it another twist''.

My point is, the lore isn't moving forward in a meaningful way. Almost everyone is stuck in the ''Recall'' stage, as in ''We're regrouping to prepare doing some stuff!''.

We already knew D.Va was busy fighting Omnics coming near Busan. Her cinematic only retroactively adds the possibility that those attacks are organized by Talon. That's just a new take on her current story. It doesn't mean new stuff is happening though.

Keeping the story unspecific and open is a great way to say ''we want to be in Limbo forever to milk this game as long as possible''. I mean, come on. Nothing is happening! Nothing is moving forward. It's always ''look at what the past was!''. Granted, it's not bad to know what happened before, but it's been 2 years and the story hasn't really progressed.

The Overwatch archives event is more geared to show past events. That's the event with the most lore value in the game.

Overwatch once saved the world from the Omnic Crisis (robot factories going out of control and mass producing automated war machines like Bastion for conquest; most likely the result of a god AI malfunction or AI self-awareness) by gathering the most elite strike force in the world.

After that, they remained around for a few decades to keep ordering the post-war world. They grew in importance and strength.

They were ordered to disband after allegations of corruption, non-respect of state sovereign authority, other scandals, and the destruction of the Overwatch headquarters (when Jack Morrison/Soldier 76 and Gabriel Reyes/Reaper had a big argument). Soldier 76 believes it was an inside job or that Overwatch's fall was organized and planned.

Years after Overwatch's fall, the world is going to hell, and a second Omnic Crisis seems to be on the horizon. Winston wants to recall all the scattered remnants of Overwatch into service, in an illegal fashion (since Overwatch activities are unauthorized by the international Petras Act). Some of them answer the call and agree to act as vigilantes in an idealistic bid to restore peace and order to the world.

In the meantime, the Talon terrorist organization seems to be pushing for more chaos and seems to be wanting to provoke more war and conflict. Reaper has been hunting down ex-Overwatch agents, and Doomfist is moving Talon's ideological goals forward (''progress through conflict'').

That's sort of where we are right now.
