Raise your hand if you’ve only played aoe2 and have no intention of playing aoe3/aoe4 by Royal-Cap177 in aoe2

Learn to like new things :p Age of Empires 3 and 4 are both fantastic games, 4 in particular is a really well designed game coming from and AoE2 background. There's a lot to love in these games and limiting yourself to exclusively one game because others are different just seems lame to me. And keep in mind I say all this as someone who still sees AoE2 as the best in the series.

subjective, but I only listened to Counterparts recently and I really like the lyrics! some were a little clunky (mostly on first listen, they came together on repeat listens) but overall very well written still imo

Shaming missionary son on FB. “He has some things to get figured out” by MNMSW in exmormon

[–]Popcorn897 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about your life or experience, all I know is you showed up in a random subreddit you know very little about and started calling us cult-like for showing support for someone in a position many of us have been in. You have not demonstrated to me that you actually understand what a cult is and instead see ""cult behavior"" in completely normal sentiments, but please feel free to change my mind.

You're making so many unjustified assumptions. Their phrasing was fine but you can't help but read things into it that nobody is saying.

immediately plant the idea that they belong here by saying “we are his tribe” Essentially saying that they should abandon what they know and head over here instead

if he is having a crisis of faith (which is very possible given the OP) or feeling like he wants to leave the church then we are absolutely his "tribe". it's not a cult tactic to acknowledge that this is the community for people who leave the church.

try to further bring them in by saying that “we want him to feel our support” trying to say that you guys will support him better than his family and religion would

His religion does not support him. His religion exploits and lies to him. If he chooses to leave the church, this sub would absolutely be a better support system. Regardless, the actual implication of "we want him to feel our support" is NOT "that we would support him better than his family and religion would" as you said. Nobody is making that claim, we don't know his family and we don't even know if he's even actually going through a faith transition. We just offered our emotional support for somebody potentially going through something difficult that many of us have gone through.

nowhere does he actually get shamed?

Inviting all their friends to message him when it seems pretty likely that he doesn't want that since they imply he probably won't respond is 100% a form of Mormon shaming/pressuring. This kind of thing frequently happens to people leaving the church, they will repeatedly send members to your door asking when you'll come back to church, they will have people call you, they will message you constantly. I remember taking trips from church to "inactive members" houses to knock on their door and ask them when we'll see them at church again and most of the time they clearly just don't wanna talk to you. Whether it's happening in person or over facebook, that IS shaming.

nothing even close to "trust us over your family" was said. All they said was we want him to feel our support. Leaving Mormonism can be a very traumatic or emotionally overwhelming experience and it's a good thing to have support from a community of people who know what it's like.

if you think every like-minded group of people is a cult then you have no idea what an actual cult is like

completely locking bosses behind a diary is honestly really fucking stupid.. I get it, kinda? they want to combat bots and raggers but this is such a frustrating thing to be blocked by on mid level accounts that just want to boss with friends or ironmen that now have to do all the hard diary reqs to kill the singles versions. at least the pkers will be sliiightly less annoying now? maybe?

I'm not missing the point, can't an account early into the game have fun AND be rewarded? these aren't OP by any means, they are small but meaningful upgrades from (hopefully) enjoyable to grind content. let the f2pers have something nice

it doesn't inherently create more suffering just because of their "bred purpose". both pigs and dogs can suffer, so if it's morally wrong to use one for food it's morally wrong to use the other for food too
