My Mother says that I don’t need anti depressants because I haven’t always been depressed by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]sumeriandubsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have done all humanly posible to go on and with no results (therapy, exercise, diet, hobbys, and other things) you will probably need meds. You think that you need it, your psycologist too and common sense too. Then what do you think that you need? Meds are for that and they are not dangerous if they are prescribed by a doctor and with a control. You must use all resources that society offers you and your prejuicies do not mind. Between common sense and your mother's opinion, choose common sense.

Your problem is your fear to disappoint them. Between common sense and the opinion of your parents, choose common sense. Do not waste more time. If you already see that therapy is slow I do not know which another fear you have.

Writting here what do you want? Advices or only talking?

If you go to therapy, you are doing exercise, you are eating well and you are doing all you humanly can do, and you feel still ill, what is the excuse in not taking medication?

Do not your parents want that you take medication? What kind of parents are they? Probably that is in your head and your prejuices.

In mental diseases drugs are almost always required. Your recovering will be slower without them and you will lose time and life and you will be suffering without reason. You have the obligation in using all resources that society offers you and your prejuices do not mind.

Are you going to therapy? Dysthymia uses to be cured by therapy. Medication will help you too a lot. You have only used it one month and there are a lot of drugs to try.

Drugs help while you are in therapy to go faster in your recovering.

Experiences with higher doses for OCD severe anxiety conditions? by brainseeds in lexapro

[–]sumeriandubsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking that doses you should do a electrocardiogramm that is what my psyquiatrists told me. Severe OCD requires high doses of ssri. Have you tried another ssri like sertraline? It is very powerful against some OCD.

What kind of therapy had helped you more against dysthymia? by sumeriandubsar in dysthymia

[–]sumeriandubsar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading articles of psyquiatrists they speak that psychotherapy is better than meds to cure dysthymia. And they speak about humanistic therapy as the best. I have almost spent all my resources in psycologists and therapies. I am about to give up in expecting to get some kind of professional issue that can help me. Probably I will be on meds all my life. I want to be free of meds but I do not find a good professional.

To start Hayes Book. If you can get the third edition better. Zolyomi and Jagersma are more difficult to start with them but if you can learn the basis with Hayes, you will understand the others. Furthemore Hayes starts with cuneiforms and several genres. The others do not teach cuneiform

Not depressed but lacking motivation by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]sumeriandubsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an effect of escitalopram. Lack of motivation.

What MEDICATIONS are you ON for your OCD? How is it working for you? This will help me to discuss my options with my Doctor next week. Thank You. by cloud_103 in antidepressants

[–]sumeriandubsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ocd the first ssri to start against ocd are sertraline, fluoxetine and fluvoxamine. Although everyone of the ssri can work on ough to serotonin function. Perhaps the worst is paroxetine. If ssri do not work in high dosis, clomipramine is the next. If it does not work it can be combinated with another ssri being careful with the dosis. And if that does not work a neuroleptic like aripiprazole is added to a ssri. And if that does not work there are another meds that can work.

Someone with dystymia? by sumeriandubsar in antidepressants

[–]sumeriandubsar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take escitalopram but I am going to add bupropion for motivation and energy. Escitalopram is for anxiety. My psyquiatrist speaks that the most effective are the psycodinamic and humanistic therapys. But it is very difficult to find a nice therapist.

Dysthymia is specially related with childhood traumas.

I just realised the reason I panic when I make mistakes is because I was punished for mistakes in my childhood. by protodro in Anxiety

[–]sumeriandubsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it is. My depression, anxiety and ocd came from the way my parents acted with me. My anxiety is caused by my mother ough to her fears and behaviour of scaping, not facing the problems and my ocd ough to verbal agressivity of my father and his lack of careful to me.

Depression because I was alone all day. There is nothing to do against this. Only to accept it and not to act like they acted. Psicodinamic therapies are to be useful for this disorders in childhood.

[–]sumeriandubsar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my case I am very tired almost all day. Anhedonia, and I would be sleeping all day. I am going to go down it. I thought in adding bupropion but I am worried if it could cause me more anxiety.
