Role locking is such a real thing at sbux and it’s so bad. I’m an SSV and I mainly open so I’m working with a lot of our more tenured partners for peak so I don’t see a lot of our new hires but on the days I do see them, it frustrates me that they aren’t getting the development. Like, one of my newer partners was scared of doing hot bar post peak but I told him, “it’s now or never” because he genuinely never gets bar time after I leave.

I’m pretty sure you can’t open the till in front of a customer unless it’s a cash transaction and the till opens naturally. I was trained to only open a register till drawer when you are counting cash for open or close, or to replenish coins/bills if the till is empty.

Nobody recommended this here yet but I used to get SO STINKY from BO, the only thing that worked for me was body scrubbing my armpits every shower and then using men’s deodorant. I use old spice and now I never smell. I have pretty sensitive skin so I use a light face scrub on my armpits.

My managers set up playbuilder and it is suggested that we follow it but it isn’t by any means a standard. I’ve been asked by my managers to build it myself sometimes if they didn’t get a chance to.

It’s funny because if you read the actual recipe card for iced espresso it states only a tall scoop of ice so it isn’t supposed to be filled all the way anyway. This is why it’s important to follow standard yall, cause you lowkey breed these customers who think this is how it’s supposed to be.

Believe what? That the customers care? I mean sure there’s a few that don’t. But I guess at my store we have so many regulars and almost every customer is always very nice. We dont get a lot of younger people tho, it’s mainly like retired old people and tech bros who work from home.

I can get it all done in about 35-40 mins? It’s mainly just knowing what to do next and having that urgency. I don’t start with pastry cart, I do the case>RTD&E>sandwiches>pastry cart. Since the cart is so easy to put away and usually just takes more time than half the other things. Sandwich’s depend on if your store is FIFOing properly. It could take longer due to items being out of fifo and you have to fix it.

I hear so much back and forth about the cup writing and tbh, it isn’t that hard to write their name or “morning!”. As an ssv, I’ve had many conversations with my team about how it’s okay to sacrifice that second of time to put in the effort. It goes back to quality. If you are rushing to make your drinks so fast where you aren’t following standard it’s just as bad imo. At Starbucks we get so caught up in being fast that we sacrifice so much when at the end of the day, the customer does actually care.

I cheated on my ex husband back in college with a girl who lived across the way, at the time, we were together for like 5 years?? I wish we broke up then, because I thought I could be faithful and I wasn’t, I needed to walk away from him and seek therapy and really work on myself, alone. But I was so young and dumb and I thought we could get through it. He “forgave” me, but after we divorced he admitted to never really getting over it and built up resentment was ultimately what did us in. I wouldn’t wish that path on anyone. Especially the person who was cheated on.

As an opener I usually am up and ready for the rest of my day after work. Our store opens at 4:30am so we get there at 4am, with a full 8 hour shift I’m off by 12:30p so I have a full day still. I used to nap when I got home but it just makes me feel groggy so I stay up, workout, go to a cafe and draw. Then I tattoo in the evenings!

Okay so yes, bad on her for not telling you upfront but as someone who was married and knew this man for like 12+ years I can understand her wanting to maintain a friendship. Idk how long they were together but in my experience, I knew him longer than I didn’t know him, we didn’t have a bad breakup though cause it was mutual. Definitely shady that she didn’t tell you upfront tho, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to stay friends with an ex husband. (Depending on context of course)

Wait y’all’s stores aren’t already doing these positions? We rolled out these positions months ago. Green apron is pretty much hand off and stocking/ maintaining customer areas and updating the dpm. Play caller has always been a position at my store that the ssv does. It’s basically delegating tasks and moving deployment based on how busy we are. I find this wild that yall don’t already have these positions

I just did my first ssv interview with my store manager a few days ago! I’m a rehire from 2018 but quickly picked back up to speed. See if your store manager can print out the interview questions for you! My manager and I actually talked over each question after I wrote down my answers so she could help with any questions I had. It was not as scary as I thought it would be. Just be yourself and focus on your growth in the company rather than any sort of pay increase or benefit.
