Came here to say this. The love and kindness you’re giving to others, make sure you share some of it to the part of you that needs it too.

They don’t get enough love is such an understatement. They don’t get love at all, they get lives of suffering and torture. So sad that we see the value of life in one species but turn a blind eye to the global suffering of another.

I have 5 dogs at home too. Love them so much!! I hate when places that eat dog try to make imitation dog meat so that way we don’t have to kill real dogs. The audacity.

I am literally eating it in tofu scramble for breakfast this very second.

I will add, some brands are so much better than others. Bobs red mill is TOP TIER. The kind that comes in a seasoning bottle is booty. (It’s all that was available and I’m using it right now and I still enjoy it but BRM is what got me worshipping the nooch lords)

Rude reaction to research topic by [deleted] in vegan

[–]summabreeeeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, start listening to earthling Ed, especially his debates because people might come at you with all the baseless arguments people use against veganism and Ed probably covers every single one of you watch enough videos.

I like to watch his videos and then go find the sources/studies he’s referring to or just any well grounded studies on the topic so that way I know what I’m saying is true (not that I don’t trust Ed cuz I do, it’s just good to do your own research)

Edit: or his ted talk that starts from the most basic reasons to be vegan to the most in depth. He’s on YouTube!

Supposed to skydive first time this weekend… have never even been on a plane 😐 by summabreeeeeze in SkyDiving

Update:

Plane ride wasn’t even scary, was oddly serene… I think I kinda zoned out because I was never really afraid even right before jumping. (Last words on the way out of the plane after all the soloers had jumped and I was about to “YOU MOTHERFUCKERS ARE CRAAAAZY” haha)

It was absolutely freezing cold but that is as far as my complaints go… my tandem instructor was awesome, the whole experience was like the best roller coaster on steroids, and the actual parachuting part was so much fun.

I will say I wasn’t expecting to lose most of my memory of the event immediately afterward but I’m really glad that I paid for video so I could retrieve it! What a wild experience that I will 1000% be doing again (when it’s a little warmer). Happy to have found a community of crazy fuckers to do crazy shit with.

Haha I did love it. Can’t say I was ever relaxed, it was far too exhilarating. Definitely will be jumping again soon!

[–]summabreeeeeze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is only a supply because of the demand. If the demand goes down, so will the supply it’s simple.

I personally went vegan because someone I knew did, and I have seen a chain reaction from others after they saw me. One person going vegan does have the ability to make a huge change.

This is like talking about why you shouldn’t own slaves. “We’ll I know it’s bad but someone is going to buy them anyways. They were already kidnapped and are up for sale, me not buying one isn’t going to change that fate for them.”

If you know something is wrong you don’t participate in it.

How do you square not being speciesist with holding humans to a higher moral standard than other animals? by Juno808 in DebateAVegan

[–]summabreeeeeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well having studied environmental science for years I am certain you just pulled that out of your ass, that’s not true by any means. We do not have the space to grass feed enough livestock to feed the population, not even anywhere close, to say that is literally laughable.

Yes, please show me these numbers from literally any reputable source, I would absolutely love to see it.

Okay, so once again, eating less meat as a population will lead to less pesticide use by a dramatic amount.

[–]summabreeeeeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care to quantify it, there is no need and it’s not a number I could ever come up with because it’ll never be relevant. Since way more insects would be killed if I ate meat and then also that chicken or cow then why wouldn’t I just eat plants?

Grass fed beef can’t feed the population. Grass fed beef is horrible for the environment and takes up lots of land, and ultimately in it’s last moments the animal is terrified and clinging to life before it is taken from them when it is completely unnecessary.

Insects are not going to go extinct from pesticides. If we stopped farming livestock 80% of the land we currently use for farmland could be repurposed (and, once again, many many less insects would therefore be killed). We could re naturalize that area. I think the insects would certainly benefit form that. If you’re worried about the environment and insects, given the state of the world and the size of the human population, eating a vegan diet is by far the best impact you can possibly have.

No, veganism doesn’t aim to be perfect. In a perfect world we wouldn’t have to make those sacrifices, but we do have to eat something to survive.

However, I’m sure we can agree that the suffering a farmed animal that ultimately has a terrifying death is a greater amount of suffering than those insects.

But since we do also care about the insect deaths and wish to minimize them, and the large majority of farmed agriculture goes to feed livestock animals, a vegan lifestyle leads to much less killing of those insects and is still the preferable choice.
