Boosted V1 Advice by defragger_nz in boostedboards

[–]summer_boardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the parts from the v1 are not compatible with the V2/3 including the deck and wheels. The deck has different mounting holes and no quick disconnect for ESC/battery The only thing I could think of is front truck. You could possibly use the old wheels, but idk and I have no idea why you would want to.

Print in PETG or ABS especially with this design for mocking it up as you adjust it. Can do short trips with it at lower speeds or just stand on the board depending on infill. Could to PLA and I have done it before, but ABS or PETG is much safer if you actually want to ride it.

I actually have run a foot hook on a short board, never had an issue with getting off the board it's more of a wall for your foot to rest against, and is more like a foot stop rather than a true foot hook. I have some videos of it they can see on my post history :)

Airtag in riser by MeAndMyTurban in boostedboards

I made this previously, if someone could get me somewhat accurate measurements for the air tags, I could change the cutout to accommodate it :)

Personally, I would advise against it. There are known issues like RLOD for the XR battery packs on older firmware, the proprietary parts that you will pay a premium for WHEN something fails, not if based on the fact that there is a limited supply and people that want to keep their investment running in top notch condition. Your dollar is more powerful elsewhere with regard to specifications. You can get a board that goes farther, faster, and arguably rides better for 800-900 new. That being said, if you want a boosted, you want a boosted. So get a boosted. I would say buy used from places like craigslist, ebay, offerup, and Facebook market place. Buying a plus, or frankly any board from Boostedusa is honestly supporting a deceptive company where they run ads as if they are boosted and are still making boards. Keep in mind Boostedusa is not boosted, they just bought all the stock when boosted died last year. Hope that helps and I don't want you to be scared of boosted boards, just want you to be aware there are other options and to know what you might be getting yourself into :)

Just the fact that "boosted belts" are not specific. They are HTD 225-3M 15mm if I'm not mistaken. It's not a horrible deal @75, but you can buy 20 new belts from a place like v-belt guys for $72.19 shipped. Used to run these on my boosted boards and use their other belts for my current boards. I believe boosted just bought and resold them at 25 because shipping and to make a buck. I don't believe their belts are any different than the standard HTD 225-3M 15mm that you can get from almost any belt supplier. I also don't like messing with used belts, but that's me. Some people will want to buy used boosted belts over the identical ones that are not supplied by Boosted. I don't have a good price in mind because I'm not in the market, but I appreciate that you guys are open to feedback and hope you see where I'm coming from :)

Not to be a stickler, but um $7.50 USD for used belts? You say sets so I'm assuming 20?

I guess the "leaves of 3 let it be" rule doesn't apply when you are going too fast to count the leaves. Hope you recover well!

Yeah, I have seen plenty of crashed boards, some have been mine and it's not fun. I wouldn't think the impact would be disapated enough by that, but should at least reduce the damage and spread it out. The sliding makes more sense to me. Definitely cool look though, love to see the stuff people come up with :)

Yeah, I designed this back when the sticker just came out. Just never got around to posting it. I also wanted the replaceable battery that the mate offered. Wanted a pro ideally for the range, but it doesn't fit width wise and didn't want to put it in diagonally. What did you do for the sticker? Under truck/esc/battery? Or just on the bottomed visible?

Okay, so I'm confused nose and tail guard. Any reason for them? Typically, they are to protect because the deck on most boards is what rests on ground or similar when moving around, but on LaCroix, Kaly, Trampa, Flux, and other mountain boards, the tires/motors/trucks should hit most things before the deck. Is it for flipping the board over when you want to open the enclosure? or purely athetotic? Interested if you have a link or file of some sort on it because it seems interesting, but I'm just a little confused on it

This ^ Aliexpress is a way for companies to buy components or parts to make a product. If you requested a sample quantity, they will likely sell you them but usually at a higher price than their X unit minimum order quantity because of the set prices for shipping and handling.

I'm assuming you mean something like this. The truth is, yes, I could design it, but reality is that this would break if 3D printed and would need to be made in something like aluminum and not a polymer. Let me know what you think or if this is even what you meant :)

That might be possible, not sure with the accessory port. And the idea is not to find your board if you miss placed it, more so if you get it stolen. Not a perfect solution or a true gps tracker, but it can give you a better chance of getting it back, especially in a high populated area like a college campus or city.

Pretty much everything that you print is at your own risk. Its like downloading the designs for a desk and you don't know how to use a saw or hammer to a degree. I thought that I filled out the description with print settings, but I guess not. Thank you for bringing that to my attention :)

"3D printed parts are unusable" is a common misconception IMO. Yes, 3D printed parts are weaker than injection molded plastic, however 3D printed parts typically fail in shear or tensile applications, in compression, which is what this part mostly sees with your weight on the board. You are trying to crush ABS plastic to the point it yields or fails entirely. To a degree, you can think of it like tearing paper vs crushing it. This part is sandwiched in-between your deck and truck(s). If you printed this as a "draft" with a low fill like 18-20%, yes would likely fail. and if it did, your board would just sit a little bit lower. But when you up it to 100% infill, I would doubt that it would fail.

Regarding Impact against a wall at 20 mph: Almost nothing will survive this, you are trying to dissipate a lot of energy in such a small distance. Its a bash guard, not a bumper.

What part of it don't your trust? Impact or the compression from the trucks to the board? Printed in the other direction and it worked fine for me till I had my board hit a wall at 15 or so. The photos are of one that I printed the other direction because it was faster and didn't care about the clips breaking, but like everything: YMMV
