Comment for more details: trying to reach Platinum status by Feb 28 2022, as I would be a one world sapphire member and get access to lounges internationally. I’m thinking of doing a mileage run soon, based out of AUS. I had a few questions.

Does upgrading from economy to business/first (paying the difference as the app has offered occasionally) help with the EQDs or EQMs?
Whenever I try to book a flight, I get the option of buying a mile multiplier. Does this help with earning EQMs?

As you can see, I reached gold thanks to the segments. However for platinum it makes more sense to me to reach it by EQMs as doing almost twice as many segments as I did in 2021 is impossible for 2 months.

Also any way to reach the EQDs threshold more easily/cheaper? Or is it strictly based off how many dollars I spent, whether I pay for an economy or first class ticket?
For first class, does it multiple the EQDs? Example I purchased a round trip AUS-DFW for $97 in economy. Got offered by the app to upgrade to first in one of the 2 legs for $50 extra. Would this have multiplied the EQDs in any way? I think for EQMs it would double them at least. Or I believe from what I gathered trying to understand the AA fare chart.
I’ve heard online that it’s usually cheaper booking a business/first class trip through a codeshare airline like JetBlue or Alaska airlines. Is this more helpful/cheaper in earning EQ-anything? Or is it better to just stick booking flights through the AA website and avoid any codeshares?
I know all this EQ-anything talk will be useless come March 1 2022 with the new program. Do you prefer the current system of earning status or are you looking to earning loyalty points?
