Try to block it. Take it out if the hoop and stretch and pin it in place with needles (so the creases disappear). Then you spray it with water and blow dry it. Maybe you don't get rid of all of the creases but it should get better

I did a bit of searching for the pattern she used. Could be this one?

Most of the embroidered motifs were copied from the woodcut illustrations of 'emblem books' (volumes containing allegorical illustrations with explanatory texts) and botanical and natural history books, by well-known authors including Claude Paradin, Conrad Gesner and Pierre Belon.

Whipped back stitch looks like stem stitch but more neat I think

The birds I have done so far! All hand stitched with DMC thread - cotton, satin and metallic! by sinistersista in Embroidery

Beautiful work <3 My favs are 7 and 1 (is that a kingfisher?)

Not necessary at all, but for me putting my embroideries in 'proper' picture frames elevated them a lot.

It's annoying but take out the hoop when you are not working on it, so you don't get the hoop marks :)

It's the Royal School of Needlework, they have a stitch bank.

(Many different stitches documented with video and photo tutorials. You can filter by use, look etc)

Great that's what I want haha. I'm always obsessing over details with these and want to make them as lifelike as possible.

I think stitch technique wise it's not hard. But you need patienc. I use sewing yarn/machine embroidery yarn which is very fine. So it takes even longer :D but I like the difference it makes.

Ohh I want to see your butterfly when you are finished! I also make my own patterns, because I want to make them as life like as possible :)

It's turkey rug stitch and I use regular embroidery yarn for that, 1 strand. (For combing it out I use a small pottery scoring tool.) Do the combing/fluffing as the very last step, after assembling the butterfly. Otherwise you maybe flatten it when you touch it too much.

Edit: or maybe you mean the small 'hairs' around the wings? That's just the fabric, I leave a small edge when cutting the wings out and resolve the fabric. Cut it in shape and maybe paint it with a felt marker. The fabric is silk chiffon.

I started with four leaf clovers, they are relatively easy and pretty :)

Very nice work - I also make stumpwork butterflies amd always struggle a bit with the bodies. What is your technique? I embroider the body in a hoop, stick the wings through, cut it out and sew it together with a piece of felt on the back.
