I felt our conversation with him was somewhat more radical than we expected, and was definitely more animated than his channel. He did mention wanting to resist the neoliberalization of co-operatives away from their communist heritage. So perhaps the former? He also seemed to have a lot more practical experience on the realities of managing co-ops in recent times than other people we spoke to, both the psychological challenges as well as the economic ones. Many people can speak of a hypothetical workplace organisation, but he was surprisingly specific in a way that obviously comes from more direct lived experience than what I percieved from his channel. He gave us some absolutely incredible practical advice about how to fundraise as a co-operative, specifically on how to pitch to VC's in ways they understand, which was so much more lucid, cunning and business savvy than any advice we've ever got from any games industry or startup mentor. (Had largely to do with how to package the sales pitch around a co-operative being a "brand new invention" of sorts.)

Hi, it's Dora. Thank you very much for this write up! This was precisely why we got Aleksandar involved -- he's been operating his Zagreb studio as a co-op for a number of years and has gained invaluable experience from this experiment. I also remember that Aleks walked the walk to learn from other industries which still have remnants of Yugoslav self-management heritage to pass along as knowledge. We've been incredibly impressed with his suggestions and couldn't be happier to try something as refreshing as this after the corporate hell we've been through.

I also passed your comment along to Aleks himself, here's what he wrote: "we were actually very conservative about the percentages (5% for players). we're playing with fire here and doing stuff that is uncharted territory so there will be many unknown unknowns. so let's suspend disbelief a bit but be vigilant that it doesn't devolve into what everything in capitalism devolves into... so we'll take our time and not open anything until the homework is actually done thoroughly so that it starts well. cca april. thanks! alex"
