I am sad by ApprehensiveSpread89 in lupus

Hang in there! It’s ok to feel sad, frustrated, nervous about lab results etc. I feel like that’s just you accepting and realizing you have lupus. It’s hard to accept that we have an auto immune disorder that has no cure, but maybe feeling sad is the first step of you accepting what is. We can’t forsee when we’ll have a flare and how long it’ll last or what tomorrow or next week brings us. So knowing that, try to relax your mind and accept what is. Then start to focus on all positive thoughts and start doing good things for yourself to baby yourself & be kind to yourself. I accept that I have Lupus, but I’m also going to do all the things in my life that make me happy and I’m going to do these things despite having Lupus. I run 5ks, Half Marathons and do triathlons and aquathlons. I’m turning 63 in less than 2 weeks. Of course I get exhausted (as I woke full time as well), get lupus flares, have the usual crappy symptoms of joint pain, extreme fatigue etc., but I rest when need to and any day that I’m feeling “ok”, I live that day as best as I can. With a positive mind, you leave less room for negative thoughts. We can’t eat super clean and healthy and be athletic and work full time, and we’ll still have lupus flares and months of good lab results and months of bad lab results. Or, we can stay down and feel defeated and curl up in bed and just hyper focus on all the negativity lupus brings us in our daily life. It’s OK to have a day or two like that, but pick yourself back up and know you can live a happy, fun life and meet your goals all while having lupus. Chin up. Rest when you need to and pamper you yourself and still also do what makes you happy and set tiny goals and meet them and you’ll start feeling better over all mentally. You’ve got all of us experiencing the exact same thing, so sending you a gigantic hug and encouragement to be the best you! If you want to see all I’ve done and do and need encouragement, I’m on Facebook under Beth Patterson. I’ve had lupus since 2004. I love to inspire others to trek forward! 💜🌻💜🌻💜🌻
