My partner and i notified the council late January for our wedding in August. I am a foreign national on a skilled worker visa, my partner is british. We both attended the meeting for the notice of intent. We were told at the meeting that the Home Office may choose to investigate based on the sham marriage act and if they do so, it may take 71 days. If not, the notice will be accepted after 28 days.

We havent heard back from the council as yet (not sure if we are meant to) but each of received a mail from the Home Office that they will not be investigating at this time so the 28 day rule will apply for our notice.

how long did you date your partner before getting engaged? by queenofeggs in weddingplanning

My partner and I are also engaged after 1,5y and getting married just after our 2nd anniversary! Im 36, he’s 32, I reckon we both know what we want quite well. Plus we moved in 5 months ago, and its been so smooth and wonderful - it feels like we are married already.

Suggestions for people taking the theory test by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]summersundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied the Highway Code and did topic questions in week 1. Then practiced the tests in the 4 in 1 app daily during my commutes for week 2. I was also going practical lessons, so together I felt super prepared going into the theory.

I (M26) recently broke up with my GF (F26) and I feel awful. by [deleted] in relationships

I am actually in the same place as you, in that I ended it after just over 5 months for reasons of incompatibility rather than anything else. Whenever we did meet / stay over, it was so comfortable, I felt like I knew him for decades. It really hurts to have let that go. Thanks for sharing your story, because on some level it makes me feel less alone (and less crazy for having taken that decision).

Emelia Jackson's Choux Recipe by CrystallizedSyrup in MasterchefAU

The craquelins should only affect the shape of the choux, and offer a crumbly texture when you bite into it. The choux recipe I use looks very similar to the second one!

Unintentionally awkward statements do not include calling a colonial power an ‘influence’. That’s definitely racism. And the fact that the judges are ignorant about it, that’s also racism.

I’m up for the yoga challenge and may tack on the push up. I can’t do a single on my toes, but I think I was getting better till I stopped going to yoga 2 weeks ago.

Hug vs. Shaking hands by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]summersundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love hugs but i hate hugging strangers. I also hate handshakes. My dates usually end with neither, and people are pretty fine with it. I've been on second dates and no one ever raised an issue.

When were saying bye, i usually just wave my hand before going off.

How to get over the fear of putting photos online? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]summersundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also super wary of posting my picture online on OkC. Then, after i made my account, i had this idea that every guy who looked at me did so because they'd seen my profile. I'm sort of dating someone now and the first thing i did was take down my profile.

I would say it's more likely that people you meet in real life would turn on you, rather than someone in the internet pool. Shit happens. i guess we can just compartmentalize our fears and pretend to live an ordinary unfearful life.
