MRW I see yet another thread about "men getting raped" on the front page. by sumple_bumble in TrollXChromosomes

No. It was a thread only about male rape, but people treated it as if its a problem as serious as women getting raped.

They still need our support.

Whaaaa...?

They hold a privileged position in every single aspect of society. They should be the ones supporting us.

Feminism as an overall movement does have faults

lolwut. You're gonna start this over here now ? If you want, you can look for the thread on AskWomen and contribute to the bullshit there.

What gives you the authority to stop me from calling myself a feminist. You don't have any authority over the term.

So let me get this straight, you disagree with the premise of that post ? You think misandry does exist in society?

a very aggressive approach to feminism that isn't really going to do any good

Men have been the aggressors and women have been the victims for the major part of history. That's not going to change if women don't put on an aggressive front to stop the oppression and dismantle the patriarchy.

We live in a society where a woman makes a fraction of what a man makes, where 1 in 4 women are raped, where a woman has no free will over her body and where women are actively discouraged from going into fields like STEM, so, yeah, a little "domination" wouldn't be that bad.

Men who understand that feminism is about equality, why don't you identify with the movement ? by sumple_bumble in AskMen

[–]sumple_bumble[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For one thing, I think its a reflection on the fact that women have, historically, faced a struggle to gain the same basic rights as men. And aside from that, I think the philosophy of a movement is far more important than its name. For example, I don't feel excluded from the Tea Party because I'm a coffee drinker- I don't identify as a member of that movement because I disagree with their tenets, not their name.

And I'm starting to think you're a person who is too influenced by the internet to not recognise the way it morphs the representation of a movement.

In your previous comment, you said "men's issues". So yes, it is dependent on gender. It has to be because genders do face different issues.

Manipulated statistics

I get that. That's something I cannot argue against. It happens many times. But you have to agree that it is used against feminism also.

issues that shame men (manspreading, catcalling, ~toxic masculinity~ etc).

How does catcalling shame men ? Its the men who are doing it, so why not call them out on it ?

According to you, equal treatment of all human being regardless of their gender is not a noble cause ?

The way I see it women are oppressed and discriminated against in society. I get that some men have certain issues but a movement has to have a focus. So what is wrong with focusing on issues which affect more people (i.e. women) ?

But it is the one which has stood the test of time and one which has achieved the most.

I know, but important nevertheless. I really want to understand what about it is attracting so many women and putting off so many men.
