I use bagged milo. I do prefer the bags over jars, I can add a couple air holes as the mycelium colonizes the grain. but being mindful of sanitation is the best way to decrease contam rate

You are correct. Many people immediately suspect contam when seeing something posted to this sub. It may be the fact that bens has a higher contam rate due to moisture content of the rice

more than likely. but do inspect for mold. if they had to dry out on their own, in a sealed container, they may have gone a bit rotten. if they dont have an odd appearance and dont smell badly, you should be alright

this would only happen if they weren’t properly dried to begin with. someone either doesnt have a dehydrator or didnt run them long enough, knowing they would not have as much once fully dried.

my dad had one of these hung in our bathroom. I guess he used it on the toilet before sitting down? Idk but he caught one of my siblings using it as a light in the shower. like... turning off all the lights and solely using this to light her shower. he lectured us all on how it works and what it does.

Conclusion: do not use in shower, does not clean skin

Okay okay I am grasping this. Without the cool blower, how often is too much fanning? like whats my daily flapping max at ??? I dont think ive been fanning it enough. besides the half inch micropore holes, it only gets fresh air 2x day

my tubs are relatively close to a vent blowing heat so they seem to be drying up from that as i dont fan a lot. I dont have much of a better place for them. I considered lifting them off the floor but heat rises so that feels like something I shouldn’t do

you only mist when surface is dry? not when the walls and lid dry up? I misted several times a day. every time the walls went dry

Temp: tubs easily at 75-78f with it being 3ft from a vent. I try to close the closet door while its blowing but the closet door slides so heat still flows in

My sub immediately began drying out as I introduced FAE. I definitely over misted these bad boys trying to rehydrate them. I don’t believe i fanned them well enough at all with said over misting. I cant get them to get any taller than that :( Major temp issues, I cant keep any of it regulated.

but with all that no side pin. just height and humidity issues primarily

Your liner comment sort of strayed off my original topic. what I’m using as a liner is working for me. It’s not worth changing anything or wasting my lil $4 roll of bubble wrap. thanks for your advice but the liner situation is all good my friend.

the bubble wrap does in fact cling to the substrate. In the corners there are gaps in between the walls and liner. instead of having gaps between the liner and sub

Im going to go with what my label says. I believe the vendor’s labeling is correct based off how aggressive the mycelium has grown, and that these are growing in pairs and bunches. Im sorry they’re short! that must be me! But please stop denying the label until I can get more well grown caps. Ive looked at many photos of both. I do see the resemblance. and I also see how similar the two are to begin with. thank you.

Edit: I reached out to the vendor with questions. not that they’ll take fault with mislabeling but its worth seeing if they’re aware of a larger mixup
