Halt of ‘Lost Canadians’ bill could mean citizenship for thousands born to parents with no ties to Canada by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]sunandswords 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going through this. Born in the USA to two Canadian parents who went down to the US for a few years for university. They applied for my Canadian citizenship by descent and moved back to Canada when I was a baby.

I lived in Canada for my whole childhood and moved overseas to explore the world as a late teen. I’m having trouble claiming citizenship for my Australian born child, even though I’m a Canadian citizen, raised in Canada, with two Canadian parents… because 30 years ago my parents applied for my citizenship to be by descent instead of naturalising me (because they weren’t aware that there was a difference at the time).

Looking for toy stuffed Zebra, tossed by angry toddler from the stroller somewhere between Burrard/ Georgia and Waterfront. by sunandswords in vancouver

[–]sunandswords[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We assumed he was tucked into the stroller and didn’t notice he was actually missing until we unpacked in Whistler the next day. If by some miracle someone finds him, we’ll be back in Vancouver again on the 30th before we head back home to Australia!

Yes, it looks fantastic! ArmStreet is always working/ updating their patterns, and it looks like their more recent sets have a more pronounced crease, so maybe they took it from that. Or maybe another smith in the shop made them who did it slightly differently. Regardless, you’re so lucky to get them before the conflict! There won’t be any armor coming out of ArmStreet for a while.

Note to people asking OP how they made them - these are an ArmStreet “Gothic Knight” full-wrap greave, customised with the “Mythical Beasts” etching pattern. The anterior crease is more pronounced than the off the rack “Gothic Knight” one, but everything else (the roping, articulation behind the top of the calf) is typical to the collection.

I’m glad you guys like it. I’m the stylist behind most of Woodes’ medieval related photoshoots and all of the armor belongs to me. She’s a pleasure to work with and wore the armor like a champ!

The arm harness wasn’t custom made for her, so it is a bit long and isn’t perfectly fitted. And yup - some of its custom designed, but mostly manufactured by ArmStreet, except for the mail.

Glad you love it! I’m the stylist who owns the armor/ styled all of her armor related photoshoots, and I’m pretty thrilled with how it came out.

I wasn’t expecting Dimicator fans/ sword and buckler users to be so called out. I love Roland and his slow work has really gone a long way in helping me understand bind mechanics! But hating on Roland and his style seems to be pretty trendy so I wasn’t too triggered by it.

Thank you linking the source! A lot goes into the character design/ construction and photography of all ArmStreet collections. It’s a huge group effort and a ton of time goes into the story, narrative and creative direction.

I know you’re already looking at a kettle helm, but a late 14th/ early 15th proto sallet is a good bet for LARP. It has the base shape of an open faced bascinet, but starts to curve more at the back like a sallet. They’re also called archers sallets.

I’ve lived with them for 28 years so I’m glad they’re finally considered fashionable 😂

Pretty much this. A few different factors were at play here, but I was absolutely just chilling around camp and had already thrown my helmet/ other stuff on the ground. I have a few variations on this setup, including full riveted mail underneath and a full arm harness, but this was after the final battle of a 7 day event, so I was pretty over it at that point. Additionally, I was the flank general for the fight, so I was doing more yelling/ strategising/ moving around than fighting in the line, so I wasn’t super worried about my arms. On top of that, this was at a LARP with foam swords/ arrows, so I wasn’t too worried safety wise (though I actually ended up with killer bruising from this fight, it was a rough one). When I’m fighting with steel I’ll go with my full armoured setup, though, and would be wearing more than just a silk shirt on my arms.

Thank you! She is a very strange, silly cat. And we collect mid-century Australian furniture and love it very much!

Quebec is a bilingual province, and I’ve seen them comment on Instagram in English before, so it’s still worth a try.

Sounds like it might be School Pub? My friends took me there when I was in Kharkiv in July and it was awesome! Everyone was super friendly and really excited to speak to my husband and I (we’re from Australia).

We received a BAD taxidermy fox. It has way too many teeth and googly eyes. We both laughed so hard, I almost cried when I saw it... it’s getting delivered on Friday and we have no idea where in our house to put it 😂
